Why all the sucky threads?

Today has been one of the worst days in recent memory for threads. Every thread seems to deal with politics, or other similairly depressing things. Hell, even LG is getting political.

What happened to the good (non-depressing) threads!

It's an election campaign here, and the party pulling ahead in the polls is conservative. Therefore, I can think of nothing but politics and Canada's doom.

Learning Feng Shui from a book is an exercise in futility. As it is said -

learn of the pine tree
and from the bamboo
learn of the bamboo

After watching the boring crapfest that was "Skeleton Key" with my mom she declared: Voodoo is sort of like Feng Shui, you have to cover your mirrors in both, I dont think I want to bring Feng Shui in this house.

Thanks for making me waste 15 bucks on a feng shui book for christmas mom:rolleyes:

Indeed, but we must remember that true wisdom is like a burning flame - for those who are willing to remain at a distance it is a source of warmth and light. Seek ye, however, to look directly at it, you will be blinded. Seek ye to approach it, to embrace it, and you will be burned. The price to pay for wisdom is indeed high.

Indeed. Wisdom is like a fine liquor. Suitable portions fill you with warmth, and make you wise. Too much can lead to bad decisions, and unwise acts.

You're telling me... there was this one time where I got blasted on Sake with a bunch of Hare Krishnas, long story short I ended the night wearing a robe and couldn't walk right for a week....

oh... I mean... True Enlightenment is then, an act of balance. Too much wisdom, too little wisdom, too much sake, too little sake, and one finds ones legs cut out from under him - his journey stalled. Balance, then, true balance is the goal.

There could be drive-by-zen. Which of course leads to death by zen.

Basicaly one would be driving in their car, usually a mini van with its blinkers on going 20 miles below the speed limit, and when they saw a rival philosiphy member they would slow down even more, spouting their wisdom upon their bewildered oponent. Of course this new knowledge would cause almost certain death, especially if it conflicted with the victims ideology.

Yet True Enlightenment requires balance. That this is a contradiction matters not. The destination remains the same even when the road shifts.

Correct, friend that will be and that may have been.

The destination is unimportant. The journey, and the enlightenment that follows, are the important things.
