What does everyone think about this candidate? He did a lot of great things for New York. Can't be any worse than what we currently have.
Oh, so even if he's just marginally better, it'll be fine?
Logic issues aside, I just don't want to see another Republican president...
...Or any kind of president, for that matter.

He'd have to get through the primaries first, and with his pro-choice and pro gay rights stances, I think he's going to have some trouble.

Well, the only thing I have to say to his chances is "no-fucking-way". If he really wants to seek the repo nomination he'll have to get religious right leaders to agree that philandering with a younger woman while his wife was sick with cancer was somehow ok. Not to mention his staunch backing of Kerrick(another philanderer). So, in a nutshell, no way in hell, to use their words.

I don't know that that would be much of a problem, a lot of the more extreme religious right pundits (mostly televangelists) have been being exposed as engaging in that sort of thing.

G.W. was a drunken "player" who handed out fake I.D.'s in his college days. The religious right new this, and they still supported the fuck out of him...
...And what's this? The economy's worse than it was before he was president? In. Your. Fucking. Faces.

Ok, I would vote for him for his views on Cuba and dictator Fidel Castro of Cuba for life my main issue, plus he was a good mayor.
Why didnt you make a good public poll on this question?

I would support Guilliani for Prez... He did great things for the city of New York... Cleaned it up and held the city together on 9/11.. He'd be a good President... and He's a moderate as well...
and He's a moderate as well...
I think it's funny that having mainstream views makes you "good" or "reasonable". The way I see it, having mainstream views (whether you have them because you actually think that way, or because you have them just to fit in) makes you look like a mindless putz.
I think Rudy would be a great president however the fact he supported the neo-con war in iraq would probably make me think twice. Feingold is still my fav.

I see it more as a person whose willing to make compromises... Than a person whose point of view is the correct true path and anybody elses imput is garbage...

Yeah, we've got one of those right now. No need to try that little experiment again.

Now now, Rudy is a moderate, GW is a *hehe* compassionate conservative!

Well, he's moderate compared to Dubya, I'll give him that much, but that's not saying very much.

You never know, perhaps he is the one that finally breaks the 2 party system.
You know, a 3rd party with such a high profile leader might just not do so bad...

Not just Ross Perot, but a 3rd party in congress and state legislatures... A minority party to keep the other two on their toes...

I'd like to see it happen, but if there's one thing the two parties have agreed on in this country, it's that they'll share power, and no other entrants need apply. They've rigged the game solidly in their favor.

I was surprised to learn this; if a 3rd party is elected to congress, they don't have to let that party in....

That's not what I meant--there are non-affiliated congresspeople. Bernie Sanders and Jim Jeffords are both independents. What I meant is that the two major parties have protected themselves as incumbents and made their parties so powerful that third parties just can't get a foothold, at least not in federal races. They've convinced the vast majority of voters that a vote that doesn't go to one of the two big parties is a wasted vote, and that's a shame.

This is true, but if you're already elected and then switch parties thats ok.. But if you get elected as a 3rd party Congress doesn't have to let you in.. It's like a club...

That was Gingrich. Rudy was cheating with one of his staffers while his wife was away on assignments (she's a reporter) and messing around with her crew.
But still, he's pro-abortion, pro gay rights and pro gun control. Thats three strikes against him as far as the Republican leadership is concerned.
