Today, my 12 yr old son won the school spelling bee against 90 other kids. He couldnt be happier. Happy that he won and did so in front of the entire school. (Last month,he won the school geography contest). Now he will go to the tri-county contest against other schools in a nearby college.
We just put our house up for sale. We are asking a fair market value, which is twice what we paid for it 3 yrs ago. Three people have looked at it so far. Two have made offers and are now bidding against each other.

I'm in a great mood. We are going out to celebrate my son. Life is good.

Anything good happen to you today?

Spelling bees are the strangest things ever.

I slept till six, and have nothing to worry about for ar least another eight hours. And I've still got a nice supply of weed. Life is good.

Congratulations to the little carnivore. When a kid focuses on education it's good for him and for the nation. It also shows good parenting.

Thanks. I think his mother has more to do with it. He's bright AND he is applying himself so far.

Its good to appreciate life even when exceptional things arent happening.

Damn-I'm in a good mood. And right now, across town, a steak with my name on it awaits me.

KEWL! I know you're proud of him. :)

Yeah ... some things happened with me today too:

* I discovered that I may be eligible for "concurrent reciept" from both the Army and the Veterans Administration. It's a bit complicated, but I've been carried so far under the "offset" provisions, which means that they subtract the smaller amount ( in my case, my VA check ) from the larger ( my military disability check ) and you get the difference. Under concurrent reciept I would get both, retroactive to 2000. It would mean a sizable "back pay" amount, plus an increase of about $500 per month, or more.

* The VA is also looking at my current disability rating. Seems that if you were in Vietnam ( as I was ) they assume that prostate cancer ( among several other medical problems ) was caused by contact with Agent Orange. Not sure what my new rating would be or what dollar amount that would translate into, but any little increase helps.

* It also appears that I qualify for a "combat-related" additional pay from the Army, which would also be back-dated.

* I definitely qualify for Vocational Rehabilitation, which means they may agree to pay my tuition for my Ph.D. Have to wait and see on that one too.

Wish me luck in dealing with the bureacracy on all this! Heh!

Thanks. It seems like my purpose has become to provide a home and lifestyle where my kids thrive and help them be what they want to be.

Maybe I'm doing something right. Or I'm just lucky.

Sometimes, yes it is, but the good times more than make up for any transitory pain, IMHO. :)

I am really proud. Not so much for him winning, but that he did his best and made himself happy. Winning is the icing on that cake.

And that IS good news-good luck and be patient, Dr.Eutrusca.

How well I remember that when mine were doing things and winning awards and stuff. I was awfully proud too. Enjoy it! Later, you'll be telling everyone how great your grandchildren are! :D

FRACK a bunch of patience! I'm too frakkin' old to be patient! :D

I got a car to replace my old one that broke, I should be able to pay it off in less than 6 months with a major budget adjustment, which had originally cut out my date night fundage, but I got a new job that will cover my car payment and date night so I actually am coming out better in the deal.

Homeschool co-op friday school starts friday so basically my kids get 4 months of classes for $5 each class, so for $30 my kids are paid up until mid-may and get to take classes like Spanish, Dance, and Sign Language. My new job is a teaching position of sorts so now I get access to free curiculum for my 2 year old, and I made friends with a teacher that teaches 1st and 2nd graders and she is getting me free curiculum for my 4 year old, so since I am saving so much money on curiculum I may be able to pay off my car in 4 months.:D

hooray! go you and your son :fluffle:

well things that are good with me:
i have a roof over my head and i'm warm and not hungry
i love my girlfriend so much and she loves me back. what more do i need? :)
i have a new phone which is cool
i'm watching 3rd rock from the sun and that's funny
amy, again. she makes me happy and gives me reason to think life is good - she gives me hope for the future. things with my family are kinda hectic and on the edge, none of us are looking forward to the future or happy with life as it is, but she somehow manages to make it all ok and go away when i talk to her. sorry to go on about her but you know how it is...

Glad to hear it. When you have someone important to love-and they love you, Life is Good. And problems dont seem that bad.

Things got better today- They put my son's name on the school sign in front of the school, Congratulating him as champion. its also on the school website. We took a digital photo of him under the sign and emailed it to family and friends.

Today, we also had another interested party return to our house for another look. I didnt expect our house to be that hot.

things look good for us.
