Thus far, this game looks awsome O_O
The graphics are quite nice, with what looks like very good lighting and textures. I am particularly excited about the AI, which is apparently really amazing and lifelike.
Even if it's just an upgraded Morrowind, Ill still love it, simply because Morrowind pwns all ;)
If you want more, read the previews and such around the web, theres lots of them and most of them are different.
Anyway, Im rather mad at Microsoft for apparently forcing the release date back for simultanious release on the X-Box360, from what Ive heard if they werent busy optimizing it for X-Box we would already have it on store shelves.
O'course, the rumour mill isnt perfect, so I may be wrong on that count.
Regardless, I look forward to, in the fine tradition of my first Morrowind Chraceter, running out into the town and attacking the first person I see once I finish the tutorial section, then being arrested or killed.
yah :)

Is Oblivion back-compatible with the original Xbox?

I can't wait.:)

I played Morrowind again and again as several different characters but none of them were as fun as my very first, a dark elf battle mage. All the times after that I knew where the dungeons were and where to find really powerful loot but I still remember staggering through a swamp as a level one character only to stumble across a daedric temple and die at the claws of a scamp.

Oh, and Telvanni was the only house to choose, Redoran don't give you any decent rewards for your work, the Hlaullu had a crap stronghold and were difficult to pronounce, the Telvanni taught you powerful magic, gave you cool items, didn't even care much if you murdered other Telvanni and your stronghold was a wizards tower!

I also remember playing as a pure mage, killing 7 heavily armed mercenaries with a single spell, the feeling of power was tangible.

As I say, I can't wait.

I cant wait for the game either. Hours of gameplay I spent playing Morrowind while on the phone in confrence calls with my friends who were also playing the game. I was an Imperial assassin. Stealth was the name of my game.

I hate the elder scrolls forums. Big old flame sessions with lock happy mods.

No. And the PC version will rock the face off of the Xbox 360 version anyway, same as with Morrowind.

I couldn't get my head round playing stealth, it just didn't seem to work at all. Maybe it was just my incompetance.:(

Tell me about it...any good suggestions and people jump on you like a swarm of vultures because that would be "making it too D&D." They forget the Elder Scrolls is a product of D&D, at least it used to be.

I actually updated my computer because of Oblivion. Morrowind is probably the second rpg that took most of my time, after fallout 2 of course.
Surely first characters are always the most memorable, a fugitive thieves guild master khajit moving through towns jumping from roof to roof is the kind of things that not all rpgs can give you. Anyhow those endless cliffracers where tedious!
