Meh. I'm not too fussed either way about this game.

But BENGALS vs. STEELERS, on the other hand... I'm from PA, but I am a diehard Bengals fan. So I'm rather disliked around here. ;)

WTF is going lately with the NFL TV coverage?

Past years the TV would replay most contested calls... This year they almost never replay them..

Bengals or Steelers?

I go with the Bengals. Good QB weather, and Palmer layed a shellacking on Pittsburgh in Heinz.

Ummm...you are aware that, in the even that the Bengals win, they go to Denver, no Indy, right? If Cincy beats the Steelers, they play at Denver, and New England goes to play the Colts (or "Clots" if you prefer.) If Pittsburgh wins, they go to Indy and New England goes to Denver.

I don't know what you're saying. Seriously.

But I think you're trying to say that the Colts played... soft defense that day, which I have serious trouble believing. The Bengals kept close with the Colts the WHOLE GAME, which is more than most teams that played them could say.

I saw that replay often enough, and I heartily disagree with the referee.

Funny, though, how it's

STEELERS ROCK

Colts go down to the new steel curtain. The refs tried really, REALLY, hard to take it away from them, but they pulled it off.

Steelers vs. Seahawks, Superbowl XL!!!!!

That Pittsburg game nearly gave me a damn heart attack.

"Polamalu intercepts the ball, game over!"
"Play overruled!"

"Peyton sacked 4th and 16 on their own 3, game over!"
"The bus fumbles and it's almost run back"

"Vanderjact misses wide right, game over!"
"A flag on the field...on the colts, game finally over!"

The Interception overrule was the biggest BS of the playoffs so far. Not one person commentating on that game, or was in the studios or knows anythign about football (except colts fans) agreed with it at all.

I think refs should have some kind of penalty for making calls as bad as that. Not like loosing their job or fines or anything, but there should be something.

Agreed even the commentators where questioning that call. Even most Colts fans admit it was BS, but if they won the game they wouldn't say that.

Btw Peyton can eat a fork for dissing his O-line in the press conference. Not their fault he's as mobile as a quadraplegiac.

Not even that but Pittsburg won because they came to play, the same reason they beat the Bengels. As long as the Steelers keep this head of steam they could find themselves in the superbowl.

And Kemo Von,Olhoffen is innocent as far as I'm concerned :D

I would like to see a Bear/Steeler superbowl, but I'm calling for a Seattle/Denver matchup.

Carolina is too hot and cold and it seems like their steam is wearing down. Kudos on beating the bejeezus out of the Giants and making Plexico cry.

I'm immensly satisfied with the playoffs so far. Bengles got beat, Both Mannings are crying, and New England got stomped.

I think refs should have some kind of penalty for making calls as bad as that. Not like loosing their job or fines or anything, but there should be something.

Refs have to have their contracts renewed every year, so if they make some truly terrible calls they can be "canned" at the end of the year. Not that it bothers them much- since NFL refs are part time, and most of them are doctors or lawyers in the off-season. If they perform badly during the season, they will not be selected to officiate in playoff games. The ref "teams" (since they work in teams throughout the year) who we see in the playoffs represent the highest rated squads from the regular season- and the #1 rated group (based on missed/wrong calls, etc.) gets to officiate the superbowl.

I know they were on pace to set the record for most flags thrown this year, but I don't know if they actually did or not. The biggest problem I see is caused by replay. I personally like replay, but I don't like some of it's side-effects. Based on what is and isn't challengable, officials are now pressured to "let the play continue" and err on the side which will allow the play to be challenged. Even though that results in a lot of bad calls, many of which are not overturned, because the camera angle doesn't show exacly the right evidence or whatever. I'll wager the competition committee will be having some nasty hearings this offseason.

I'm all for it, even though I am something of a Panthers fan. Seattle always comes first in my book. :) Still hoping that Alexander's concussion isn't bad, so he can still play. More for him, than for the Seahawks--he's done so much to get them where they are today.

Though, if the 'Hawks lose, I'll still have Carolina to root for in the Superbowl.
