Definitely Tesco, you might want to inlude a voting poll

We don't go to Sainsbury's; we parked in one of their car-parks one night - when it was very windy. They were careless enough to not bother locking up their shopping trolleys, and a trolley smashed into the side of our car. The repair cost £300, and when we asked for them to pay as it was their fault for not keeping the trolleys from wreaking havoc, and they refused claiming: "You park in our car-park at your own risk, it is not our responsibility if your vehicle gets damaged". What a load of bollocks.
In the end they paid £150 after some complaint letters (obviously replied to with pre-written letters based on complaint subject - so had no relevancy to the complaint). Anyway, enough of my ranting...

EDIT: I see you have included a voting poll, sorry

I vote Tesco because you can find pretty much anything in the large supermarkets, value is good and lets not forget great food

though Netto (Scandinavian for value) is second because of prices (laugh all you want I'm the one spending £10 on shopping :p )

ASDA has to be the worst supermarket poor management, poor quality and even though they have sacrificed all else to give value the Netto down the road is still cheaper

I would say ASDA, as I usually shop there, but ASDA is not exactly British anymore as it is now owned by the American retail giant WalMart. But I also like Sainsbury's and Waitrose (my local supermarkets in walking distance) as the quality of the food is much better. :)

Aldi is great for their occasional computer special offers and affordable food.

For statistics of Supermarket market share you can try this web page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TNS_Superpanel
and then you can compare the stats of your survey.

Well I say Sainsbury's. It would have been Waitrose, and there's no doubt in my mind that their food and products are better, but they are also too expensive for me... or anyone else in the North of England it appears... which is probably why there is only one waitrose north of birmingham. (And it's in Cheshire *booes*)
Also Morrisons is crap, to the same extent that Elvis is dead; completely. We used to have a safeway in our area. A nice respectable safeway. Then those bastards at morrisons bought it and now we have to live on old bread and gravy browning.

You have me confused with Carops. I'm from Cornwall, and it has nothing to do with accent (IMO). Manchester is in the North of England because most of England is to the south of Manchester.
I V Stalin
08-01-2006, 16:33
It's perfectly simple. The South is anywhere below a line from the Severn estuary to the Wash. The midlands is anywhere between that line, a line from the Wash to the northern end of the England/Wales border, and the Welsh border. The North is anywhere above that line still in England. Ergo, Manchester is in the North.

Waitrose does the best food but is the most expensive and is populated soley by middle class toffs (I'm lookin at you, PM;) ). Tescos or Sainsbury's for the overall best value. Ignoring the fact the supermarkets are all Teh 3vii1est of course. I vote for Waitrose cos i have pretensions of being a middle class toff.

Tesco - They are ruthlessly buying up foreign competition.

I personally shop at Lidl, the best quality food

However I prefer Asda to Tescos, As I am not a Vegetarian, or on a diet, Trendy, Faddy, Carb dodging Atkins heart attack waiting to happen, held back by religious food Fetish, Budding Jamie oliver.

I also disagree with the price gouging of tescos on Local Farmers and producers.

Plus Lidl does Peach Juice and Frikadellan... <G>

Departments Store/ Supermarket,

I see Very little difference between Tescos Asda Waitrose and M&S, besides the price they all sell clothes, DVDs Books Household Wares, Computers, Gadgets, Insurance etc.. besides M&S Sushi is the bollocks, as is there Fruit crushes and sandwiches... Waitrose Sushi isn't bad either come to think of it.. just to many californion rolls for my liking

Tescos sells exactly the same sort of things, if not a wider variety. I don't see why M&S shouldn't be on there.

There are a couple more verses, though that's my favorite since I'm currently living in Liverpool and there is an ice cream van that sells "ice cream" till about 1:00 am which wakes me up sometimes.

Tesco has everything just right. It offers all sorts of other services such as finance and internet, mobile phones etc, and the Clubcard points soon mount up. It's convenient, you never have to queue for long and it sells just about everything you need on a day-to-day basis. Better still, its 24 hours! Hope that helps. :)

Sainsburys is the best by miles. tesco may sell everything on the earth but they never actually have any in stock cos theres just not enough space for that kind of variety. And the tesco finest stuff is the same as sainsburys regular stuff.

Me and my flatmates used to go to sainsburys every day, even if we didnt need any shopping, just to look at all the wonderful stuff and gorgeous employees that look like models. Then we moved house and now we have to shop at tesco. We have saved money though, not cos its cheaper there but cos its so shit we never want to buy anything. We sometimes walk the 2 miles to sainsburys but its not the day out it used to be, especially at this time of year.

God bless sainsburys.
