While sorting cans at a bottle drive today, I noticed that all the Guiness cans had pingpong balls in them. Nobody I know drinks Guiness, so I've come here for answers. Do all Guiness cans have pingpong balls? If so, then why?

It's a widget ball to simulate draught in a can. The widget ball contains nitrogen (N2). When the can is opened, the valve inside the widget is broken and nitrogen gas is released into the beer, forming a finely-bubbled, beautiful head.
It's also in Kilkenny.
When you open a can of draught, inhale deeply right at the mouth opening and get a little extra buzz for your buck. :D

It's a widget deally to remix the ingredients that may have settled in the bottle. At least that's what I gathered from the ads.

Thanks. No I will no longer need to stay up all night pondering it. :)
And thank you, Cannotthinkofaname. I'm too lazy to quote you too.

Oh. But you got the name right, and that counts for something.

I had no idea about any of this. Not drinking beer has proved to be detrimental to my knowledge of trivia. I knew it would.

The only solution is to go out right now and drink lots and lots of beer

Or, I could just continue to drink hard liquor, like I do, and be happy I now know there are marvels of modern ping-pong ball chemistry inside beer bottles! :)

Ain't technology grand? Better living through science.

Or, like, you know, on the rocks, in a room that has a bar globe.

It makes my life as a homemaker a whole lot easier.

Yup, perfectly normal to have a 'pingpong ball' or widget in a can of Guinness.
The real question should be is it normal to drink Guinness?
Anyone who says no goes on the 'list'...:sniper:

Not as far as I can tell.
