NEW PORT RICHEY - The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is looking for two men involved in a foiled home invasion Wednesday night.
One is about 6-foot-2, 290 pounds and might have a broken nose and jaw. He was beaten with a shovel and metal plate by the homeowner and his roommate, the sheriff's office said.The man is white, 35 to 45, muscular, with reddish-brown hair, tan complexion and tattoos on both forearms, one of which is a dragon with a skull.
The other man is white, about 6-foot-1 and 180 pounds, thin, with an olive complexion, blue eyes and short light brown hair. He is about 25, has a scar or scratch on the left side of his chin and a tattoo on his neck.
The older man is said to have pushed his way into a home on Cedar Point Drive about 10 p.m. Wednesday as the 44-year-old homeowner and his wife watched television. The intruder wore a red ski mask, brandished a black BB gun and demanded money and jewelry.
The would-be robber dropped the gun during a scuffle with the homeowner. The struggle continued outside, where the second intruder joined the fray. Another man who lives at the home ran outside and hit the first intruder several times with a metal plate. The homeowner then hit the same man with a shovel.
The men ran west to a silver sport utility vehicle and drove north on Runnel Drive.

Twice the terror in a Metro Atlanta neighborhood on Friday night -- a home invasion, where one of the victims inside the home was shot and wounded, then, the terror spilled into the surrounding neighborhood where children were playing as the home invaders were suddenly fleeing for their lives.
First, the man who the gunmen, the home invaders, shot, 43-year-old Robert Clemons.
He was treated and released from Southern Regional Medical Center, shot once in the lower leg, according to police.
Police are searching for the two men who shot Clemons and terrorized him, his family, and everyone in his neighborhood.
The home invasion and shooting near Hartsfield-Jackson Airport terrorized neighborhood children who were outside plaing when the gunmenwere running away.
“It was just scary,” said 9-year-old Gustacia Johnson.
Young Gustacia and her sister, brother and grandmother were left shaking at what happened in their own neighborhood, beginning with the home invasion in the duplex just down the street.
“Apparently, what happened was two black males entered the home and a struggle ensued, and a shot was fired,” said Fulton County police officer Gary Syblis.
The victim, Clemons, was wounded in the leg. His brother then grabbed his own gun, and wearing only his underpants, chased the home invaders down the street.

A Baker County homeowner and his wife woke up just in time to protect themselves during a home invasion robbery during the early morning hours of December 29. Jody Paul and Sabrina Thrift were asleep in their North Macclenny home when Richard Munoz, 23, and his 17-year-old brother, Robert, broke through their glass door utilizing a boat anchor they found in a nearby shed.
Mr. Thrift told investigators he awoke and went into the kitchen to get a glass of water at approximately 1:30 a.m. When he returned to the bedroom, he noticed the ceiling fan was off. After asking his wife, Sabrina, if she had turned it off, he looked out his window to see if his neighbor had power. When he saw they still had power, he became concerned and had sat down on the edge of the bed when a loud crash echoed through the residence.
Thrift grabbed a 357 revolver and .22 caliber pistol and began walking towards the bedroom door when he saw a light shining under the door. At that time the door opened and he observed someone standing in the doorway with a flashlight in one hand and an apparent weapon in the other. Thrift told investigators that’s when he began shooting.
Sgt. Buck Dyal and Officer Mike Lagle were the first officers on the scene and found Robert Munoz running along the road toward the getaway car. He had blood on his clothing and hands from going through a barbed wire fence. He stated, "My brother Richard is shot" and pointed in the direction of the house.
Once inside, officers found Richard Munoz lying on the floor with multiple gunshot wounds apparently still attempting to get to his gun. Munoz was wearing a black gun holster on his right side and was making motions to find the gun that deputies located just inside the bedroom door.
According to Baker County Sheriff Joey Dobson who arrived on the scene shortly after the first call, Munoz was apparently prepared to use the gun. "It was cocked and loaded," said Dobson. He also revealed Tuesday that Florida Department of Law Enforcement evidence technicians found indications that Munoz had fired at Thrift.
Richard Munoz was transported via Rescue to Shands Jacksonville where he underwent surgery at 4:00 a.m. that same morning. He remained in critical condition on life support and died on December 31.
Robert Munoz was taken into custody and transported to Ed Fraser Hospital for treatment of the lacerations on his hands before being arrested on multiple charges including home invasion robbery, aggravated assault, and burglary. He could now face murder charges as well since a death occurred during the commission of a crime.
According to Chief Chuck Brannan, it is still an active investigation. He and Investigator Steve Harvey, are the lead investigators on the case for the Baker County Sheriff’s Office.
So far the investigation revealed that the Munoz brothers apparently parked their SUV in the woods approximately 300 yards from the Thrift residence before making their way to the house where they cut the power and phone lines. The pair bypassed several easily stolen items such as tools and four-wheelers before taking a boat anchor from a shed and throwing it through a glass door to gain access to the inside of the Thrift’s home.
Both of the Munoz brothers were armed. In addition to the gun found inside the home, investigators discovered another loaded firearm presumably dropped by the younger man as he ran from the scene. Investigators are still trying to determine a motive for the crime and say they are still interviewing several individuals. There was no attempt to steal anything and police have said the homeowners and the brothers did not know each other.
Police reports indicate the younger Munoz told investigators, "Me and Richard were just riding around and Richard told me that he wanted to go break in somebody’s house."
Richard Munoz was a 2000 graduate of Baker County High School and is married with children. He joined the Air Force and completed basic training in early 2003. According to authorities, Robert was currently living in Ohio where his mother and father moved after leaving Baker County and was visiting his brother during the holidays. The Munoz’s list a Taft Road address. Neither brother had prior police records.
