Damn you Gamespy!

I hate Gamespy.
I hate the way it has managed to infiltrate half the gaming sites on the web, I hate the way that it worms its way in to games in the form of 'Gamespy Arcade', I hate the way that it bombards me with ads every day.
And, to add to the giant heap of steaming infamies, I hate the way that it has turned one of my favorite websites of all time, Morrowind Summit, into PLANET ELDER SCROLLS!
ARGH!
ARGH!
ARGH!
No, Gamespy, I dont want to sign up for your damn downloads, I dont want access to your damn 'high speed' servers, I dont want to hand you money for nothing! I want you to die a horrible, slow, painful death! A death involving words like 'red hot' and 'knives', preferably.
(more anger here)
End rant.

I can't even play Civilization IV online anymore. Why the fuck would any developer/publisher choose GameSpy as their multiplay provider...?

Because theyre stupid, thats why :P
I mean...seriously, what is it with gamespy? WHY, against all logic, are they a success? So many people apparently hate them you would figure that the Internet Hivemind of Gamers would have destroyed it by now.

Because they sold out.

And it lives for the same reason AOL does.

Yeah, and Forumplanet sucks now since the people running it suck. There were a few good, small places around there that were secluded and fun. But they closed them. I can't get myself to return there now because of that.

i still don't believe in paying for online gaming. if you shell out the 50-60 bucks for a new game why pay 60 more to pay online. it should be free. i hear nintendos new system will have free online first party games.

untill all online gaming console or not is free i shall not participate

I've been on that wagon for years as well.

The only reason I ever use Gamespy is their annoying monopoly on sites with decent amounts of downloads for games (EX: Morrowind Summit), unfourtunatly they seem to take over all the good sites for good games, and I am far too lazy to search the web for six hours a day looking for what I want :P
Still, they havent got any of my money :P

raises the question of monopolies on the web I suppose

we should make a list of all the people who won't use game spy and mail it to game companies maybe that will singe the "spies"

Oh and I have used game spy once and even I have a deep hatred of it but I guess NS is next in line

I also hate Gamespy, for ruining the multiplayer expeirence of one of my favorite games, Fallout: Tactics. I've always wanted to match tactical skills with someone else, and Soldiers At War, another favorite, didn't have multiplayer. Finally, when I am ready to begin playing, I find out I have to spend three hours downloading a new update before I can play, and all three servers have four-hour waiting times.

Enough said.

It is also disappointing to hear that Morrowind-related sites have been snatched up by Gamespy's bullshit, even though it lacks a multiplayer mode.
I hope they don't ruin a good game for money-mongering's sake.

I've been on that wagon for years as well.

Same year, my years of annoyance at trying to download HL1 mods off fileplanet led me to say "Fuck that" and use other avenues.

Indeed, the annoyance of t3h registration of d00m is annoying, especially when they actually wanted me to PAY to download something I had made and uploaded to a site before they took over.
That annoyed me to no end. I sent them a nasty letter and they didnt respond :P

I tried to do some stuff in Gamespy to do with AvP a few years back. I spent the rest of the night swearing.

They wouldn't even let me sign up properly because I wasn't an American. Provincial gobshites.

I know this makes me look like a n00b, but I don't care. :mp5:
