I'm pissed because I got to drive to the DMV today to get some work done, only to find that the DMV does deal with my sort of problem, but not in the format, I had been given. (They didn't mention that on the website.) I was redirected to another one in another town, which is closed until monday.

I'm also pissed that my new computer software hasn't shown up, I'm in a phony relationship that no one has bothered to end yet, and that you people made this thread and I decided to post here.

proper gym machine thingys? yeah i know what you mean but (apparently) if i'm trying to lose weight the best thing is simple but constant cardiovascular exercise rather than pushing a specific set of muscles.... so treadmills et al it is. depends what said gym instructor says really. looking to lose at least 2 stone by april so dunno how hard that will be.

Nah, best if you do both. Muscles burn more calories just by being there, so they're a good thing to have (well, not in an icky Schwarzenegger fashion, obviously:eek: ). But yeah, the perky lycra girl will tell you what's best. Have fun!;)

what tendonitis? I have patellal in both knees. I'm trying Osteobi-flex (glucosamine and chondronitin) to see if that does anything. Worked for my dogs hips years ago.

I'm also a bit bitter about events the other night. I was walking with a friend at a coffee place in a town near mine, and there were two gay guys walking (arm over shoulder style) and a group of 4 guys harassing them. Me and my friend walked up to the two guys and acted like they were old friends (the 2 guys seemed defensive at first, but then realized what we were doing. doesn't hurt that my friend is pretty jacked and I know how to fight). The 2 guys were nice enough guys, and it wasn't an inconvenience (And I think one was my friends ex), but I'm still bitter that the event happened in the first place. Roar. people suck.

The same thing happened a few years back, and I got these orthotics that seemed to work, but this time it feels far worse, and higher up the ankle as well. Is the glucosamine stuff like a supplement (you know, like the old native guy on tv), or actually a drug?

Its weird, I can't figure out why it happened now. I did some very strenuous backpacking this summer and had no problem at all. The doctor didn't have any good reassons either.

I have the feeling it may be a tear in my knees...that is what it was for both my mom, dad, and sister. But untill I get an MRI, I won't know. Or untill I have surgery.

Anyway, the glucosamine is sold over the counter. I have osteo bi-flex (http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000059Z75.01._SCMZZZZZZZ_.jpg). It says to take 3 a day...but can give stomach discomfort to some people, so I'm starting with 1 a day...no real impact yet..but its only been a few days.

appearently, in order for anti-inflamitories to have any real effect, they have to be taken for 7-10 days straight before its noticable. I'm not willing to kill my liver like that. I prefer to do it with alcohol.

I prefer to do it with alcohol.OOh, that's a bad situation. My dad had a tear in his knee meniscus, and had to have surgery twice. The sad truth is, there's nothing you can do to fix or replace wornout cartilage. Can tendons heal themselves properly?

About the stomach upset, you should be okay if you take the pill with some food. I think the trouble is if it dissolves in an empty stomach. I'm on Novo-Naprox 3 times a day for a week. I'm not a fan of taking drugs either, but hell, I have to be able to walk.

yeah...cross of genetics and chosen activities. They told me I shouldn't run, ski, or snowboard. Of course, those are my three sports. So too bad. I'll keep going till it tears through. Luckily, when my dad had his own practice, he rented out space to one of the top sports doctors in the US, so I get to see him. Tendons, sadly, don't heal in the case of tendonitis.

It tends to be okay with food, but I'd rather not find out that it makes you vomit or gives the shits at a bad moment. And I feel ya on having to be able to walk. Would an ace bandage help? I know for my knees there are braces and straps that work pretty well. That and ice. Lots of ice (I prefer frozen peas...they form better than just ice cubes)
