In the subject of my disregard for personal safety, I went bowling with my friends last night. My team was winning 2 1/2 games to none...when the manager asked us to leave the premises. :p

Heh, if you look closely at his words, it would seem that Pat here more or less also said that Israel shouldn't exist.

"God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,'" he said.

Thereby, nobody should be living there. Anyone want to see if he'll get caught facing this question?

The funny thing is that the Israeli Ambassador called him "a good friend of Israel" and that the comments were not expected. Tell me, who on Earth would want Pat for a friend? The man is a fruitcake.

Okay, where was God when Hitler rose to power and mercilessly persecuted "The Chosen People". I know mentioning Hitler is an automatic loss of the argument but I'm not comparing anyone to him so I think that's okay. Anyways the idea that God helped someone win a football game or goes around killing world leaders because they don't agree with him is just ridiculous. I thought God's greatest gift to mankind was freewill. Well how can we exercise that gift if when we make the slightest misstep we get 'smited' (smote?). To me it's just another case of the Bible's limitless flexibility, it can be used to defend the rich, the poor, the slaves, and the masters. I wish religion would get out of politics but I don't see that happening in my lifetime.

I KNEW it.

Were there injured testicles?

Well, the incident that got us thrown out involved such an event.

See, I was on the bowling lane(dong a modified breaststroke) when another bowler decided to throw his 16 lb bowling ball down the eight feet of lane between him and my spread legs. Direct hit. And let me tell you, if you hate yourself and want to severely punish yourself, I highly recommend taking a bowling ball to the genitals. They had to carry me out of the bowling alley. :(

But everything seems intact. :)

It amazes me, that you and your wife were able to procreate.
Apparently, your sperm must be hockey-players, or professional wreslters.
I would suggest making a deal with Timex watches, where your balls can do commercials with the Timex Logo...

This is not about a right-winger, this is not about a GOP (Repubican) representative, what this is about is a man who is a disgrace to his profession and a betrayer to Christianity. He is misrepresenting not only Christianity, but common decency as well, Pat Robertson should have never, ever been a religioius leader...if you even can call him that. Pat Robertson has lost it, he no longer represents Christianity, true Christianity anymore, he has become an anti-Christian, for all we know he COULD BE the Antichrist. I'd listen to Billy Graham over Pat Robertson and/or Jerry Falwell any day of the week and twice on Sunday...and Monday...and Tuesday...and Wednesday...and Thursday...and Friday...and Saturday. Graham is a Peaceful alternative to one of the biggest morons and anti-leaders in American history.
I know Christians who think Pat Robertson no longer represents Christianity, but himself. He and Osama Bin Ladin should get together and go bowling, they seem to be of like mind.

I posted a thread on this yesterday (http://forums2.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=462616)

The funniest bit is that for Pat to claim that God will smite those that divide Isreal, it was only four days prior (http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2006-01-01-bible-park_x.htm) that he was yacking about how thrilled he was that Isreal was carving off a chunk of itself just for him!

Israel is offering evangelical Christians a chunk of the Holy Land.
Thirty-five acres of rolling hills and rocky shores of the Sea of Galilee, tucked between key sites in Jesus' ministry, would be leased to an association of evangelists led by American religious broadcaster Pat Robertson, Israeli tourism officials say.
...
Robertson said in a statement that he was "fully cooperating" with the project but no deal had been formalized. He added that he is thrilled "there will be a place in the Galilee where evangelical Christians from all over the world can come to celebrate the actual place where Jesus Christ lived and taught."

Smite him now O Lord!
Smite his hateful ass now!!!!!!!

Remember a few months back when a crazy American preacher suggested that the US should assassinate Hugo Chavez? Same guy.

He even ran for president a few years back. But he wasn't making statements that were nearly this crazy at the time. He's definitely getting weirder. Somebody needs to check his medication.

Of course, I suppose it's possible that he may have seen how successful Ann Coulter has become making insane statements, and said, "Hey, I can do that too!" But that would credit him with more intelligence than he has.

Some people are inclined to follow dangerous crazy bastards. It rarely works out well for them in the long run. Just take a look at Sadam Hussein. He made friends with Reagan, shook hands with Rummy, now their political heirs have bombed his country and locked him up in jail. And remember Noriega?

People who send Pat Robertson money are like the minions who follow comicbook supervillains. Except in comics we say, "that's rediculous, who'd follow a guy who kills you for making his coffee too hot?" in real life we tend to say, "hey, you have to be tolerant of other people's religious beliefs. You'd want him to respect your agnosticism wouldn't you?" And then people tune out when you reply, "but he doesn't! He thinks I'm destined to eternal hellfire for not giving him money and that I should be helped on my way there with all possible speed!"

Although, these days I get more worried when he sounds sane and reasonable. Recently I heard him say that it's ok to enjoy sex with your spouse, it's ok to see Chronicles of Narnia even though it has talking animals in it, and most shocking of all, that it doesn't make sense to ban flag burning."

The wonderful thing about my political opinion is that it all stems from a very simple idea: That we all have the right to live our lives as we see fit, barring that we don't interfere with others' right to do the same.

That's pretty much it in a nutshell. everything else is just me trying to enjoy my life. :)

I watch him for a laugh occaisonally. But sometimes he'll do a news story that, for example, blames the French for the trouble in Liberia and I know damn well that he's played a huge part in promoting trouble in Africa himself by supporting war criminals who happen to control land with gold and diamond mines on it. Then I get into a bad mood when I think about the fact that so many people look to him as a moral authority. It's a lot less funny that when he says things like Hinduism is a demonworshiping religion that teaches people to bathe in sperm.

Somebody should tell him that the phrase is "bathe in blood".
Although it makes one wonder why he didn't use that.
I think he might actually want to(I'm talking about the blood, not the sperm here. Although I wouldn't be surprized about the sperm either).
And someone could also tell him that I don't think that bathing in sperm is banned, according to christianity. So he probably could take a bath in sperm, although he couldn't get the sperm from anywhere, seeing as the only permitted sex has it go swimming through a vagina, never to be seen again.
Got a bad image from the last sentence that I won't tell you about, because then it'll be contagious.

I have a solution. Get all of them to face each other as they blather on and on and eventually, they'll suck the air away from the immediate vincinity, thus creating a vacuum wherein they die. Problem solved. The real problem is people, sometimes very large numbers of otherwise well meaning people, listen to these "religious fundamentalists" (I prefer the term "religious fanatics") and then take action based on the "blathering" of the blithering idiots.

People like Robertson (Falwell, Osama, Khomeni, etc, etc, etc) are dangerous - and the closer they are able to get to political power, the more dangerous they are. History is full of wars and other examples of inhumanities either caused or supported by religious fanaticism. The fanatic, by definition, truly believes he/she is right, and that god is on his/her side. The religious fanatic then mixes this special brand of lunacy with a populace that: A - is willing to listen and give credibilty because they have the same basic religious beliefs; B - has something they are either very afraid of or very angry about; C - is uneducated, or has some serious gaps in their education that can be exploited by the oratorical "skill" of the religous fanatic. The result is never good, and often horrific - religious persecution, religious wars, genocide.

For example, we know that christianity is a direct decendent of judaism, relying on the same religious texts until divided by whether or not Jesus was the messiah. Remembering that the tribes of Israel are decendents of Abraham, by extension everyone who claims to be an adherent of judaism, and everyone who claims to be an adherent of christianity, are "decendents" of Abraham. The Koran calls this same man (Abraham) Ibrahim, therefore all who claim to be adherents of islam are "decendents" of Ibrahim. Which makes those who believe in christianity, judaism, and islam "relatives". Who are these "spokes-people" who are able to take our beliefs in god and wrap them around our deepest fears and insecurities and cause us to do harm to each other - even kill one another - when we are so related?

They are certainly not good people. They are certainly not following or espousing the most sacred tenet of all - the golden rule - do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Instead they are able to convince us that we must all follow their particular brand of belief, and further that god will punish us if we do not, and even further that god will reward us if we "help" him inflict that punishment on each other.

The knowledge that religion can be, and often has been, used in this way is the reason for the separation of church and state writen into the Constitution of the United States, as well as most other democratic nations - to allow us all freedom to worship as we choose, while at the same time preventing any religion from gaining political power. Because if a religion, ANY religion, gains political power, freedom of religion and freedom of speech soon become casualties. Why, after all, would those who lead a religion that now has political power, continue to allow actions that they believe to be irreligious, and therefore "against god"? Logically, following their belief, they would have a "duty to god" to stop "that sort of thing" - heresy, they might call it.

It isn't only the Pat Robertsons of the world - those that we can clearly see have crossed the line from religious "spokesperson" to lunacy - we must be careful of. We must be even more careful of those who want to tie the power of the state - even a small part of that power - to any religion or religious belief. Especially if it is the religion or religious belief we personally hold.

Because that opens the door a crack, and the lunatics can then start crawling through.

Nice guy, huh?
Yeah, you would think that a nice "Get well soon." would have been in order... but no...
