Oh yeah. He announced it tonight. He is officially the host of the 2006 Academy Awards. Ah, this is great. I'm such a big fan of Stewart and to see him hosting the Oscars, should be a great thing.

Aaaannyway...I've been a Jon Stewart fan since Lunch with Jon. I don't know how he'll do, this doesn't seem like a format that would suit him, but I'm more likely to watch now. Which I guess is what they where after...

I think Jon Stewart will be able to pull of the Oscars, even though it's different from what he's used to.
I've also missed him over the holiday break and I miss the Colbert Report this week while it's on break.

I've seen Jon do speeches(at his old college), the daily show, movies, and talks on "real" news shows like crossfire. He was superb in every one, I have no doubt he will be fine with the oscars. He is a god of a man.

That's fantastic! He always seems to make use of slight awkwardness, so being a fish out of water probably won't be a problem for him.
(And there's no way Colbert is better. He was good back when he was on the Daily Show, but his new show is so dry and, well, not that funny. He just doesn't have the punch Stewart does.)

Telling. Anyone with more than a cursory understanding of Jon Stewart knows that he often makes fun of democrats and liberals (addressing why the right gets it more-"They control the executive, legislative, judicial. It's not like we're going to go after the Washington Generals"), and is himself a moderate "Go to your windows and shout at the top of your lungs, 'BE REASONABLE!'") but he makes fun of the right, so he's 'irrelevant.' Says the 'centrist.'
