Am I "Robbing the cradle"?

I got some text messages from a girl that I was a councilor to at church camp a few years back. Expressed an interest in going on a date. However, she's a senior in high school. She's cute, sweet, and pretty. ARF is a Sophomore in College.

As the TFK song goes, "I Want the truth!"

If she isn't "legal" I would back off. My husband is 7 years older than me, but I was 18 before he asked me out. You gotta cover your bases.

How mature does she act? Step away if she spends all her time whining about high school politics or not getting tickets to the BEP concert.

Are you insane?! Nail that young ass while you have the chance. Before you know it, you'll be 30 and won't have a chance. Even if she's only 17, that doesn't mean you can't date her and put time in. Then she might give YOU a special present for her 18th birthday.

so she's... last year of school and you're second year out of school? I see no real problem with that, although the legal age here is 16 so you might run into a small problem where you are. Ofc if you're not actually doing it, then no problem really.

Right or wrong, don't fuck about (haha...) with someone who's younger than you if she's below the age of consent; unless you're sure, really sure, you-and-she-together would be worth it. Don't go just because your ego's flattered!

It shames me to have an opinion like that, but you really can't be too careful these days with the law - pedaphilia's this century's jack the ripperism, avoid all possibility of blame!

That said, if she's above the age of consent, you can afford to at least go out with her!

17, I think. That'd make him 19.

Not sure, though.

She's 17, ARF is 20.

How mature does she act? Step away if she spends all her time whining about high school politics or not getting tickets to the BEP concert.

She acts very mature, something I always look for. There are a bunch of other things-Personality, relationship with god, friends, family, and lastly, looks.

I can 'nail it' as soon as I 'own' it. I've made a committment to myself long ago about this. To me, intimacy is the result of time and effort put into a long term relationship.

17 is legal in the state of Texas, however I have no plans to screw her. I'm not out for a quick bang. I am looking for a long term relationship.

I go to church camp every year lurking for young meat. After fed enough 'gospel', they'll return to you after a year or two.

Well, then go for it! I can't see any problem there whatsoever (if it turns out alright is another matter, but that's like with every relationship).

It's not cradle-robbing if it's legal, and in 5 years it won't matter to anyone. Now, if you were twice her age, sure, that'd be a problem, but 20 and 17? Nah! Go for it!

Then what is the problem? Although I greatly disagree with your life choice, it does make things simpler. Since I doubt you plan on marrying someone within a year, you have no legal problems. And since you met a church camp, she may have the same goals intimacy wise that you do, and that is a VERY rare thing once someone becomes 16.
And three years may be a big difference when you're 15 and 12, but once the younger one is 15-17 a four to five year difference isn't that great.

Three years difference isn't bad, and you've taken sex off the board so...

Before you make any grand sweeping proposals to her however, just remember that her personality will change between 18 and 20ish as she finishes growing.

no you are not robbing the cradle

but because of her age, even though she isnt all that much younger than you are, you need to take it slow

make sure her parents know you are dating. make sure its all very public. dont move as fast as you would with a college girl no matter how grown up she seems. dont do anything that would force her dad to kick your ass.

and do not make her your girlfriend no matter how willing she is. she needs to feel free to pursue her own interests after highschool without worrying about the need to be near her boyfriend. its not fair to tie her down emotionally just when she needs to be free.

No.

Wait, what was the question again?

Oh, still no.

If she's 17 and you're 20, you're probably about the same maturity level and perfect for each other.

A soph in college makes you like...19/20. Senior in HS means she's 17/18. That's not bad at all. I'm a senior in HS now (I'm 18) and I got together for a bit with a guy who was 22. Which is a big(ish) age difference, but it didn't really feel like it. Most of my friends are in the 21-25 age range anyway, lol. I guess it just depends on how mature she is.

That's a new one on me. From my personal exp, seems pretty good too. I personally have a cut-off point that would be about that age (1/2 mine + 7). I just found that below that there's so little in common carrying on a conversation is stilted and quite painful.

Works up to a reasonable age (like <40)

Babe, three years is neither here nor there in the grand scheme of things; in the case of my sister and her boyfriend, there is a 3 year difference - and I think alot of times, that is pretty good.

For me personally, in 24, I'll go max, 4 years below my age for a boyfriend - sorry, anything lower and I don't want BS parents going, "oh, you corrupted my little boy into your perverted homosexual lifestyle" when it was actually him who approached me!

Damn, I swear parents are so in denial about some things; if you son likes cock, then get over it - atleast he's no impregnating girls left, right and centre.

I think she's a little young. The older both get the less difference it makes. I'm 8 1/2 years older than my wife, but I had a MS and she had a BS before we were married. The girl needs a little time to find herself before she commits to someone else.
