UK Conservatives: Is Cameron a disappointment to you?

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm becoming deeply concerned about the actions David Cameron has been taken since he has become leader. To me, it appears as if him (and a small group of friends including Messrs Osborne and Letwin) have decieved the party into voting for him, without fully admitting what his aims are. It now appears that he truly sees himself as the heir to Blair, rather than the next Conservative Prime Minister.

Everything Cameron has done so far appears to have been motivated by either populism or a desire to emulate Blair... Asking Bob Geldof for advice was a perfect example. Another was his attempt to distance himself from Thatcher, who to almost every party member was the perfect example of what Tory leaders should aspire to be.

Many of us in the party were hoping for someone who would stand up to Blair, whilst offering the British public a genuine alternative government: not one that seeks to ape the present one. I fear that in 2009 when the British people are forced to choose between New Labour, New Labour in blue and the Lib Dems, the second will not emerge victorious.

I think he's losing credibility fast, he's starting to look like a lot of sheen and polish, without any substance at all (Blair did have substance), The Tories have tried to give themselves a glamourous new image, I think they are risking going too far down that road and being seen as lacking principles and vision etc.

well said. the tories were incredibly hypocritical when they elected cameron, who is nothign but a carbon copy of blair, as they had done nothing but criticise blair for the last 9 years. it shows they were just jealous that they didnt think of the 'new conservatives' first.

everyone should vote green anyway.
