Now I can brag to all my friends that I was right in saying that Vince Young deserves the Heisman and should be the first overall pick in the NFL draft.

I agree. Reggie Bush didn't deserve that Trophy and it showed. Vince Young deserved it more.

During the season, Bush was better. If you saw his punt return vs Fresno State, you would probably agree. Texas concentrated on stopping him, so USC went to Thunder, LenDale White. He ran for over 100 yards and 3 TDs. It all came down to a bad break for USC, not getting the 4th down conversion.

I did see it. Antwan Randel El would've done it better. Besides that, look at Vance Young's stats. Just as impressive as Bush's. Texas D, stopped Bush in his tracks. USC couldn't stop Young.

And young ran for 200 yds and 247 through the air. Thats more impressive. Whats even more impressive is, he done it earlier in the year too.

No dear, "Manchester United Football Club", "Luverpool Football Club" and "Newcastle United Football Club" were all in existence prior to "American football", which is, incidentally, Rugby for those unable to endure contact wothout padding.

The Texas D did stop Bush, but at the expense of White. And Bush looked a hell of a lot better than Randle El. And this is from a Big 10er. And as far as the season goes, the Hiesman is for the most outstanding player, not the best. Bush was a Gamechanger. Young is a Quarterback. An unbelievibly good quarterback, but a quarterback none the less. [/quote]

Okay, select Mr.Mbadele unda Karops, the "quarterback", and have him tackled by Andrew Sheridan or Chris Jck, and see who wins.

Coming from someone who was cheering for USC, the end result was a pretty big downer, especially since the Trojans leapt onto the board within the first few minutes of the first quarter. Those last 19 seconds in the 4th quarter were killer, augh.

The Longhorns had some solid defense though and USC's coverage on a number of key plays was TERRIBLE. Plus Texas gained yardage on a couple of instances that USC could have and should have challenged and didn't (IE: the instance of Young's knee touching the turf) but by the end of the game it almost didn't matter. USC also made a number of key mistakes (including Reggie Bush's little lateral stunt) and Leinart threw a lot of passes that came very close to getting picked off. The only thing that saved the game from becoming a rout was the fact that the Texas guys covering the USC receivers on defense couldn't catch the ball, so they just knocked it down. If those incompletes had been actual interceptions, Texas would have won by a much larger score than 41-38.

In the end though it was a great game for both teams.

it was one of the best football games i'd ever seen. i think usc WAS the better team overall, but evidently vince young is better than ALL of usc anyway. i was hoping texas would win just cause i hate usc so much. they're like the patriots of the ncaa. i admit that the officials screwed usc a couple times though *AHEM, the 2nd quarter young option where his knee was down before the option* but usc shot themselves in the foot a couple times too, a la mr. bush lateral *which made NO sense to me whatsoever* awesome game, and i too beleive young should've gotton the heisman, and NOT bush

Randle El can run circles around him. And Quaterbacks aren't gamechanger? I suggest you rethink that.

Pancakes anyone?

I wouldn't want to get hit by a 300lb lineman. Just ask the Broncos Tight End. He has taken many punishable hits and he still gets right back up and goes into the huddle.

I get hit like that, call 911! LOL.

Speaking of hits, there was some pretty nice hits in the first quarter of the Rose Bowl (I only watch that quarter completely, then came back every once and awhile). Speaking of the one on the first punt return of hte game where the Texas player caught hit and was wrapped up then got hit and fumbled. Then it was only about two plays later when USC threw it deep and that reciever was all off balance and Griffin from Texas came up and put his helmet in the recievers chin. One of the nicest hits I'd seen all year in College football. :)

It was a great game all over, but USC had a much better team.

Texas just had a truly outstanding Quarterback, the likes of which had never been met by the Trojans.

There were also some flopped penalty calls, but in the end, it really came down to Vince. Man, that guy is good.

So he does, and it's even more impressive when you consider his size. He's very small for a pro linebacker.

Back to the Rose Bowl, I'm convinced that the better team won. USC made critical mistakes, but so did Texas. In the end, Texas's defense made the stops when they needed to, and USC didn't. The UT receivers did a much better job of getting open as well. You guys will have to trust me on this, but the moment David Thomas (Texas tight end) made his first catch, I turned to the guy next to me and said "He's going to have a big game."

Oh yeah, and the Pats are goin' for a three-peat, and, unlike the Trojans, whiny, bitchy Matt Leihart won't be there to screw it up. Btw, did anyone see that interview after the game where he was like 'we were a better team and we should've creamed them.' and made himself look like a total retard.

Best college football game ever? I think so. I am not a big USC fan, but those guys are a class act. The coach is one hell of a guy too. Vince was the man, I don't know how he'll do in the NFL. Any thoughts. The linebackers are bigger and way faster. The leauge is full of 240lbs quarterbacks who'll tell you that. But that was impressive, stops USC going for TWO national champioinships in a row, last I checked the crystal ball for 2003 is in Baton Rouge, and I felt then and do now that the LSU defense that year could have stopped USC or anybody. Any thoughts on this.

PS WTF is rugby? Granted its a tough sport but I doubt the athletes in pro rugby could match up with the best of the NFL. And please dont mention soccer, my kids play it, but men look like douchebags when they play it.

Good game, sure...but it's not quite as good as the overtime thriller from three years ago when Ohio State was a 12-point undergog to all-world Miami and still managed to win. We were expecting a good game here. People counted out OSU from the beginning, and some Miami players were already preparing victory parties...then the Buckeyes stuffed them 31-24 in double OT in one hell of a game.

Maybe it's my bias; I grew up in Columbus, OH and am therefore bound to the Buckeyes, but I was watching last night's game intently as well, as both my parents are USC graduates. Therefore, maybe it's my bias, but I consider the 2002-03 Fiesta Bowl better because it was a genuine upset and it went to 2 OTs. (Plus the team I was rooting for won that game, whereas they lost this one.)

Also, aside from the fact that the USC defense couldn't tackle worth a damn in the last few minutes, the refereeing left a lot to be desired. One of Texas' TDs came on an obvious bad call, and frankly USC might have held the Longhorns to a field goal. Also, on Texas' last drive, the incomplete pass that was reviewed was, put simply, a shitty call. That was a fumble and should have been Trojans ball, lights out, see you in 2006. Granted, USC could have voided that point by learning how to tackle, but still, they should have sealed the deal on that play.

USC only really had one bad call against them -- the non-review of the option play. In my opinion, it was more than balanced out by the interception near the end of the half that was ruled an incomplete pass, allowing USC to continue their drive and eventually kick a field goal.
