It's a hockey game. It has nothing to do with politics or bush.

Yet...

It was near the end of the United States' semi-final game at the World Junior Hockey Championship when a group of foreign relations experts in the stands began chanting:

"U.S. sucks!"

This is supposed to view us Canadians as a tolerate and peace keeping nation? By blasting people from another country that has NOTHING TO DO with politics?

It's an outrage. How dare they use a singular verb with a plural subject? This way their admirable point of view will never be taken seriously. :p

A small group of druken hockey fans does not define a nation, not the views of all the people in it...

Remember that 50% of the US population doesn't want their own election held against them! Try to be fair.

Small group? Did you read the article?

It wasn't even a Canadian team. It was United States versus Russia. This is supposed to be a celebration of upcoming players for the next generation.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when Canadians consider bashing the United States as a badge of honor. If Americans did this...ouch.

During the SLC Olympics hockey games, Americans booed the Canadian anthem, brought signs with slogans like "Anyone but Canada", and pretty much supported any team that Canada was playing against while consistently booing the Canadian squad. Most likely for fear that we'd win, which we did. Plus, they almost made Wayne cry in a press conference, and that's a capital offense.

For your sake, we'll forget you just said that.

As for the main article, a bunch of idiots at hockey game acts disgraceful? Hold the presses!!! This is news!

A bunch of people used an internationnal event to make their views known. Big deal. It was misdirected at people who had nothing to do with the matters at hand. What else is new? Can't be helped, I'm afraid.

1st Wayne isn't the coach...he's the GM..or president or something.

Secondly, I disliked the booing and thought it sad for the most part although I'm sure it was 1/3 motivated by Jack Johnsons elbow on a Canadian player in the last 30 seconds of the game. I know it may or may not have connected very hard but he did it none the less and it was a very poor sport thing to do when a guy's guard is down (the puck had already entered the net and the the canadian player had passed it 2 or 3 seconds before the elbow)

It didn't help that Johnson did not recieve a suspension, which 99 times out of 100 he would have.

Pluis the Americans were the favorites and dropped the ball and everyone like to see a favorite falter.

Oh yes, clearly Canadians are "Getting away" with such things when it's the Canadian media

a) reporting on it.
and
b) denouncing it.

Oh yes. It's national policy I tell you! Hell, we now hand out "Fuck America" placards at the door of EVERY hockey rink, bowling alley, and Zellers. Our history books in our school system have replaced the words "United States" with "Evil Mofos". And we have replace the words to Yankee Doodle with Wanker Dickwad.

And after all that, we STILL haven't produced anyone quite as putridly xenophobic as Ann Coulter or Bill O'Reilly.

Clearly, we need to try harder!

Here Endeth the sarcasm....

Whenever I go to a Habs game against an American team, our fans ALWAYS chant 'America Sucks'. On one occasion people were chanting 'Get Out of Iraq'. Then again, Montreal fans are extremely rowdy (I'm proud of that).

My experience has been the total opposite. Whether we won, lost by an overwhelming margin or lost in the dying seconds of overtime.

You must have been pretty unlucky to fall only on the games where some people chanted something else than "Go habs go".

Not like this is a first at all...The Leafs/Bruins (Toronto and Boston respectively) saw the leafs fans booing the US anthem. Boston responded with cheering the Canadian anthem louder than they usually cheer their own, with roars for the US one.

It takes alot for Boston to claim more class than anyone else.

Its a common thing. I boo Toronto just as much as I boo those damn Rangers and the friggin Devils.

I think that Johnson landing a rather devistating flying elbow on Downie in the US' previous game had something to do with Canada's poor additude. Teams tend to be judged by the player with the least amount of class.

Or I could bet on Antropov moved to center (pat quinn ), Sundin getting hit in the face with a puck again, Darcy Tucker getting concussed again, and Ponikarovsky traded to have more money to give to Aki Burg whose already getting a Million from us. God I hate Pat Quinn.
