Well, for this generation, I'd have to say Nvidia. ATI didn't come out too hot this time around, but these things always work in cycles.

I got an ATI X700 Pro, runs great. I have always been an ATI fan, I have many friends who have had problems with their Nvidia cards.
That's one thing about Nvidia cards - you have to be careful of which manufacturer you pick, since some of them are less then stellar. If you pick up an Nvidia card manufactured by Jaton, Chintek or Forsa, you'll be lucky if the damn thing doesn't explode after six months. Even some of the more commonly stocked brands, like MSI and Albatron aren't too great in thier build qualities, although they usually work for the average user well enough. If you're willing to pay the extra cash for an ASUS, BFG or eVGA though, then problems are exceedingly rare. ATI never really had this problem, since the quality of thier third party manufacturers has always been more tightly monitored.

ATI, no question. At the moment at least, their cards are just a bit higher-quality.

ATI just makes better cards then nvidea. Look at the 9800, that would beat any AGP nvidea at the time. And now the X1800 just kicks ass! Sure the X300 to X700 werent all that good, but the X800 and X850 were great! nvidea has SLI but you have to wait for the company to update the driver so the SLI actually works for the game, and that game take months! ATI has crossfire which works all the time, sure its a little buggy for now, but it'll be fixed soon.
Fascism sucks. I mean, you can go on about the glories of fascism, but they still lost WWII. Hardly a good demonstration of their supposed strength and superiority.
