People are voting, but not commenting. I chose horror. I like the ones that build up suspense, pull me right to the edge of anticipation, then WHAM! Something scares the crap out of me. Ones with really good blood and gore effects are pretty cool also.

This could turn into a proper discussion about cinema (yeah right). But you're quite right. Wildwolfden should have got the message by now.

That's the kind of horror I don't like. I think it's cheap. I prefer the ones with weird intense athmosphere. And psychological thrillers more than ghost stories. Humans are certainly scary enough for me.

Gore can be very entertaining too.

so coolIt was ok, but not the best.
And I was being facetious of course. There isn't really one type of movie I like. And most movies don't fall into just one type either. I like a bit of everything, even 'bad' movies (like 'mighty morphing power rangers', 'attack of the killer tomatoes', that level of stuff).

Ahh, but when you're watching a horror movie and waiting for something to scare you, you must be scared! Unfortunately most horror movies that have come out the past several years are crap. I tend to put Thrillers and Horror into two seperate categories.

hmmm, ok, sometimes I do watch horror films to get that reaction. But still my favourites are those films which leave you horrified and uneasy. You just wonder how anyone can have such a sick mind (the scriptwriter or the editor or who ever). And because those films leave me with an uneasy feeling, I don't watch them too often.

What you think about these newish Asian horror movies? And their remakes? Ringu was pretty cool when I saw it the first time (it was the first one of these Asian horror films I've seen). The athmosphere was much better than in the remake. Anyway after seeing maybe 5 asian horrors I realised they are all the same. What about Saw? I liked it.

I think it's quite often hard to say if a film is a horror or a thriller. Or just drama. Have you seen Das Kabinet des Dr Caligari? Brilliant :D

I tried to watch Ju On (sp?), the original movie for The Grudge and it seemed even more cheesy than the remake. Saw was pretty good. I have yet to see the second one. I haven't seen Das Kabinet des Dr. Calligari -haven't even heard of it. What's it about?

Well, I saw Ju On first in a theatre and I thought it was alright. I hated the vampyre slayer and her must-be-in-a-hollywood-film boyfriend in Grudge. They had also explained few things way too underlining in the remake (have to admit, the plot in the original is not the easiest one to follow).
I just saw saw 2 few days ago. A bit disappointed. Worth watching anyway.

No wonder you haven't seen Cabinet of Dr Caligari. It's an old classic (very old, 1920) It's very different from anything you've seen before and rather amusing. But it's certainly not scary.

chic-flics rock too...... Okay, so technically they suck. But, if you just ignore the many many flaws and can pass beyond the bitter feeling of damn-those happy-people! then it's all good *nods*

i like musicals just fine on stage/theatre, but on film they just annoy the crap out of me. bah

and chic-flics are generally ok but i have seen some that made me want to curl up into a ball and eat gnaw myself to death. i haven't really watched many, but in my experience often they're quite nice and worth watching if done well/not OTT *nods*

My excuse is that I have sentimental reasons for liking music in Grease *nods* I have memories of parties with my best friends, singing along and dancing and everything. It's the single one thing I miss about my old house - the front room where I have all these memories of fantastic parties.
It's my excuse for liking half the rubbish music I do :p

Edit: I can't stand the Horror Genre they are quite possibly some of the worst movies ever created. Just plain stupidity.

Eh? Saw was crap, as a horror film at least. Though with the acting, the storyline, and lines like 'Some of the cuts were so deep there's stomach acid on the floor' it could be classed as a comedy. Saw 2 isn't much better. Predictable, slow, contrived, badly acted, left wide open for another sequel.
Comedy's the best. Monty Python, Mel Brooks, Marx brothers, could go on and on and on. Although comedy isn't as good as it used to be.

I only liked Saw for the screwed up situations the victims had to try and get themselves out of and I don't mean the idiots who couldn't tell the "corpse" wasn't a corpse.
