Of course, I understand you can't fit everything. Even so, I think jazz, blues and classical should have got a look-in.

Out of the list, I voted "heavy metal", but I don't like all metal. I probably like a lot more bands that can be broadly defined as "rock" rather than "metal". In short, I like "heavy rock" (not to be confused with 60's hard rock, though that's cool too) :p

I don't classify my music, except for the broad genres of 'Music I Like' and 'Music I Don't Like'. Anything other than that just gets bogged down into trying to put a certain band into a specific genre, and I can't be arsed with that.

Why does everyone always moan about the options not on polls? Obviously, they didn't care enough about the representation of genres to create a poll themselves.... we have a society where 'critics' outweigh the 'artists'.

You can probably file most of my favourites broadly under rock: Experimental; Avant-Garde; Industrial; Goth; or under Pop: Techno; Cyber; EBM; Ambient.

because they hate me and wanna rip my polls to bits if they think they can do better why don't they start their own poll?

I love them all equally, as for me music = life, and I love even more. There are way too many genres to list. Classical of course, new age, jazz, ambient, what everyone mentioned, really, and more. I love World.

Okay, you didn't have my favourite type of music up there. My favourite type of music is dancehall (ragga, you know like Beenie Man or Elephant Man).

However, I also love garage, hip hop, rnb, rap, reggaeton etc.

Emo is shorted from emocore, short for emotional hardcore.

Shotmaker, Envy Orchid, Saetia, Indian Summer, Moss Icon, Jawbreaker are all emo.

Finch, Saves The Day, Sunny Dale Real Estate, Thursday, Alexisonfire, Glassjaw ect. are not, but are influenced by it. Unfortunately the media calls these bands emo (or screamo in some cases) which mostly tends to get kids laughed at by elitist snobs.

Well, yeah... over "Other." But you can't really lump all the "Others" together into one coherent category. Especially when the poll doesn't have common options like jazz, blues, and classical.
