Last time I looked, although Area 51 was marked on Google Earth, it was blanked out. Edit: I reckoned briefly there that had changed, but looking again I see that it hasn't. Just a big white blob. It notes place names, but you can see fuck all.

If you look at Fass' link to the area, the big white blob is like a lot of other big white blobs in the area. Just a salt flat. The airport, runway, and other buildings on the facility are in plain view. What's missing is any interesting activity. These guys know when satellites have overhead passes scheduled and can avoid their cameras. Besides, would you really want all the alien stories ruined when you see that this is really where Elvis lives now?

really? I know exactly where it is, I could tell you, but you might not want to know. I doubt the government is concerned that I know where it is, or that I know about their own airport that takes people to work there, because you can't physically get within 200yards of the gates without getting shot. ;)

That's not a edit, it's a salt flat - lots of them about. Google earth's spyness is foiled by... a roof. Clever things those.
