Another boring New Years on tap for me. Better luck next year.

I'll probably be lying on the couch and watching DVDs or basic cable in about 3.5 hrs from now.

Aside from the fact I seem to get sick on this day every single year, I hate New Year's Eve because it's always a terrible let down. Everywhere is outrageously expensive to go to, and they don't extend the bar hours anyway, so a couple hours after the countdown you're forced to leave. Plus finding a babysitter is so cutthroat at this time it's hardly worth it...bah humbug. Or something.

Not really. Believe me, if I wasn't alone I wouldn't spend all day doing this. This project came out of boredom and insomnia.

It's weird, everyone thinks I should be getting paid triple to babysit tonight... but I really just don't think it's that big of a deal.

Can't say I'm disappointed to get an extra hour tonight though. I've been in freedom-to-spend withdrawal for about a month with Christmas and stuff.

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I haven't had a decent new year ever, I think. No scratch that, since I was 13. When I was 13 I went to a friends house and we got reeeeeeeeeeeeeeealy pissed on wine and then spent the evening taking the piss out of his relatives. Hilarious, especially when his uncle went to smack me and missed coz he was so pissed hhehehe. Twas great.

But yeah, this year was shit. Sat and watched Jools Holland's hootenanny (HOOTENANNY!) on the telly whilst getting pissed slightly. Boring as fook.

This year's new Year's resolutions then:
1. Exercise more (standard for many, but it's the first time I've ever said it so novel in my case)
2. Make New friends (involving actually talking to new people rather than looking at my shoes)
3. Get Organised (as opposed to leaving all my notes in a pile by my computer)

WOOOOOOOOOOO 2006!

What am I doing. Kinda having a reserved celebration, which is my favourite kind. I have a friend over, so we're gaming and whatever else. Keeping dear old mum :P company too.

But I'm also internally celebrating in a major way, what with my hormone prescription coming through the door earlier today. If only tomorrow wasn't new years day. the shops would be open :D

I'm taking a break from college for a semester (personal reasons) and all of my friends that I would normally party with are either out of town or busy with family. This leaves me alone with my parents (did I mention I'm unemployed and broke too?), trying to see how drunk I can get without my father noticing and going off on a rant of how drunkeness is so horrible. If I could manage to get him plastered just once then I bet he'd put up with me drinking at home once in a while (he's 45 and has never been drunk in his entire life).

Unless I find anything better to do, updates on the battle against sobriety will follow. I am currently launching a probing attack against my liver with a beer, but fully expect to end up launching a batallion of gin against my brain before the engagement is over.

The answer is: go to the liquor store several days before New Years and get some good booze. Then go to the grocery store and get some good snack food like cheese, crackers, smoked clams, shrimp, etc. Then on New Years have a party at home. It is a hell of a lot less expensive than going out and you can get totally blasted without worrying about a DWI on your way home.:D

MMO means "massively multiplayer online" and typically refers to games like Everquest, World of Warcraft, etc. Currency farmers are players in such games who use their characters to the specific end of gaining as much in game money as possible and selling it for real world money to other players. Customers pay them via paypal, check, etc, and they meet them in game and give them the imaginary money. Currency farmers are really cool people, or so say themselves and people who don't have anything better to do with their money than to cheat at a MMO game. Most other people think that they're arseholes who contribute to other arseholes, hence the inherent joy in wasting one online.

Yes, persistent-world massively-multiplayer online games have electronic currencies of their own. Money is power (although nothing can buy experience), so newcomers to such games frequently take shortcuts by illegally purchasing in-game currency with real world currency, sometimes even the characters themselves.

Currency farmers are people who use stored keystroke sequences or sweatshop labour to make money at the lowest levels of the game economy.

Despite numerous e-economy pundits praising this development as the Next Big Thing, most game players consider these ***** to be worthless ***** who all deserve to [word filter broken] :mp5:

Well, they do, because people have idiotic ideas about status. Believe me, it is fun killing people who think that just because they bought a big shiny expensive thing, they have a clue about how to use it. :sniper: Ultimately status here is determined by an individual's experiences and standing with others, not postcount. Yeah, I'm missing an accent mark or two, but I'm using a standard US keybooard and don't feel like digging through the various menues to get the proper characters.

Currency farmers in MMO games are the type that benefit from the most socially, emotionally, and psychologically handicapped members of society. People that think they actually accomplish something by getting items in a game without having earned them. Those individuals are actually slightly worse in my eyes than the people who financially benefit from them; both are wasting their time on pointless endeavors but the sellers actually benefit in some way. Of course, both are still arseholes and need to get a life.

Speaking of getting a life, I need more of one. I do have a life, but not much of one. Case in point, it's one of the biggest party days of the year and I'm sitting at home drinking alone. Damn, I need a girlfriend.

Of course, both are still arseholes and need to get a life.
.

I would normally have agreed but I used to play this free online game and over the summer and a lot of the year had a good time amassed a lot of "gold" especially as some bugs broke out now and then when I first started, and when I was going to quit I noticed eBay had amassed a big market of people who wanted to buy the games stuff and total idiots who were selling useless crap. Rather than let my stuff go to waste and maybe my time as well I sold it all got a very nice amount of money selling to lots of people. They were all super happy to throw their money at me and I was happier to take it.
I'm not sure I would say they don't have a life, they might, but in many "never ending" games I've seen beginning and starting up is a long tedious process in which you want to have loads power and be able to do as you like quickly. I've even known of some "traders" who have bought lots of money initially knowing the market done some good stuff with it and re sold so practically triple the profit.
If a hobby makes you money that’s cool IMO, and the buyers I don't have a lot of respect for them but neither do I have for say stamp collectors or say some useless stuff that costs money. And I'm sure there will be people here who say stamp collecting is good fun or something along those lines.
