So what are they? What are ya doin tonight? What are you drinkin? Eatin? Smokin?

I have a nice family party to go to. Lots of beer and liquor waiting for me, and lots of sticky icky. We have a big dry rub roast cooking, water chestnuts wrapped in bacon (never tried it, family says it's yummy), shrimp cocktail, and various little snack trays.
I'm gonna take it easy on the drink, I think, but I'm gonna smoke like it's the end of the world, and eat like I won't gain weight. (I'm sure I will)


So what are your plans? Whatever they are, be safe, and remember, DUI, you can't afford it. (niether can the family you crash into)

A "Dry Rub" roast. It's when, instead of marinating it in liquid, you take a a mixture of spices and seasonings, and rub it into the meat dry, and then let it sit over night. Ussually, after you've done it a few times, you can take all the ingredients, and mix them in a container, and you have your own "custom" dry rub mix.

Very Delicious! And it retains alot more of the natural meat flavor.

HERE (http://bbq.about.com/od/rubrecipes/r/bl10721c.htm?terms=steak+rub) is an example, although not my choice of spices, it'll give you the idea.

its not so bad... besides i have something of a responsibility to them in that if i were not here, they'd be by themselves and probably wouldn't make anything of the evening at all :( (so its better for all of us this way)

My plans include dinner with my parents in about an hour, two hours of relaxing with the hookah and some close friends, a trip out to my boyfriends' friend's party to meet the girl in the group who's been trying to seduce him for a few weeks (she claims he "made up" that he has a girlfriend), and finally the annual meeting of the high school crowd (though it's grown quite a bit over time) at one of the Denny's in the area, though we haven't decided which one yet.

Hopefully I won't be getting too messed up. I didn't even REMEMBER New Years last year.

Yeah, most of the family does. A few don't, but they kinda turn their heads when we all head outside in groups of 5 and 10 to have a "cigarette".

My Mom knows I smoke, and actually doesn't mind, as long as I don't get arrested for it. I started on her early, tellin her I smoked it at about age 16, and when she yelled at me, I was very calm and told her I wouldn't let it ruin my life, and I wasn't gonna quit, so lay off me. It worked! :D So far life is good, and I've never been busted (knock on wood).

As for the roast, you bet your ass I'm gonna enjoy it! :D Happy New Years mate!

I just got back from a cruise in the caribbean, and it is fucking snowing/icing up here. Therefore, I will be drinking with my parents and sister.

I think i'll start working on resolutions, which are merely arbitrary and artificial motivators, and i'll probably keep in theme by keeping my reolutions well within the realm of arbitrary and artificial issues.
My first: being honest with a bunch of people i don't know. You! Y'all!

1) I find myself appreciably titillated by the sequence in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire where Moaning Myrtle puts the moves on Harry in the tub. Mmmmm. Org-phant-asm.
My second: I resolve to be nicer to people here. Well, only a couple of them. Perhaps one. Maybe i didn't think it out enough, but it's a leap of faith i guess ... hmmm. Don't know if i can do it but i'm nominating MIB for that lofty place.
Well, the day's still young and it's still '05 here, so i guess i should hit the drinking and barbiturates in order to keep my promises.

I definitely chose to. Normally I get annoyed at not being friends with the sort of people who have parties, but this time it worked out because I get to make 25-30 bucks. Plus I now get the mental "exceptionally available" stamp from my babysitting person... I hope.
