Are redhead girls actually hot-tempered?

I know the popular (or is that not-so-popular?) view that redheaded girls tend to be easy to anger. Yet I know well over a dozen redheaded ladies of all ages; none of them are especially hot-tempered IMHO. Does anybody think that the redhead = hot temper correlation is a somewhat flawed generalization?

It's so stereotypical of people to think that redheads are naturally hot tempered. I don't believe that at all. I think people believe that because the majority of redheads come from Ireland, which of course is known for having drunks, and the drunks in Ireland tend to be hot tempered.

I'm laid back and easy going(as has been all the redheads I've known in my life-not strawberry blondes- redheads), but if something does strike that flame and really piss me off I can get enraged. That rarely happens and couldn't happen often.. it takes a hell of alot out of ya.

I remember those days...cup a breast in each hand and whisper in her ear "y'know your sister's are a little bigger.."
Then try to hang on for 8 seconds...
...er, not that I've ever done that. But back to the topic, I've had, uh... relationships with a couple of redheads (at least only a couple where the carpet matched the drapes) and I didn't find them any more hot tempered than other flavors.
In fact the most bat-shit crazy, insane tempered woman I ever knew was a brunette...

ROFLMAO - how can we forget the lovely Askua? But damn she's a little *too* hot-tempered for me....
i'm a redheaded girl and, well, i would say that i have a temper. whether or not those facts are connected is, well, up for debate.
but!
the interesting thing about redhair, and the reason why a lot of traits are connected to redhair, is that the gene that governs being redheaded is not actually a hair gene. all redheads actually have biological coding to have a different color of hair. the redheaded gene, and whether you have one or two of them, gets combined with your hair color to produce the final effect. if someone were blonde biologically, and they had one redhead gene, they would end up strawberry blonde, if they had two redhead genes, they would end up bright red. if someone, on the other hand, had black hair with a redheaded gene, it would produce the effect of "shiney" if they had one, and "glossy" if they had two. between there it ranges, dark brown hair with red genes produce shiney or glossy. brown hair with red produces chesnut and something else. light brown produces russet and something else.
the reason redheads tend to be particularly pale as well is that the redheaded gene causes a lowering of melanin production.
now, how this gets back to temper is that the production of certain chemicals can cause one to be quicker to anger, so the connection between redheads and a temper could possibly have a foundation if the redheaded gene caused varying production of those chemicals. or maybe having a celtic/irish background could as well.

I was actually reading a theory quite a while ago from a guy that says redheads will only exist for a few more generations. Apparently the gene is far from dominate and the more different racial backgrounds mix in the gene pool the lower the chances of someone getting the gene.
We're breeding them out heh, Hitler would be proud :-p

Generalizations are never 100% true, but generally redheads I've known are quicker to anger. I have known a few who are very mild. The same is true with blonds being, not dumb in the way of IQ, but very scatterbrained. Don't know if these are genetic or learned.
I did read lately though that a study was don't that indicates redheads feel less physical pain than others. This has helped them survive even though they have the disadvantage of sunburn.

I'm a redhead...
I don't know if I'm hot-tempered, but I definitely have mood swings that would make Liz Taylor pale with envy.
That must be difficult enough for everybody who's close enough to me to actually get affected by them (I tend to be an extremely private person, so most people won't notice the slightest change in my behaviour at all), but it's tough on myself, too. The emotional stress has me close to snapping in two every few weeks...
