What is wrong with the Carolina Panthers?

My favorite Football team is the Carolina Panthers, I live in North Carolina, USA, so yea. I remember when I saw them go to the Super Bowl, but I dunno, since then they've came close, but never really making the play off. This season, they almost had it esp. with the winning streak, but now, they have to be the Atlanta Falcons if they ever want any hope of making it to the play off. What is wrong with my beloved Panthers? I mean how can they make it all the way to the Super Bowl one season, and struggle the next? I doubt it's Coach John Fox because he's the best coach this team has ever had.

What is wrong with the Carolina Panthers?

Well, for one, they play "American 'Football'."

Hey, I don't knack futbol, you don't knack American Football.

You certainly have a knack for misspelling things. And I believe real football was there first, so American football supporters' arguments are dead in the water. Go with Sarzonia's name for it, I say - gridball.

Actually, it is spelled futbol, google it. Futbol, soccer, whatever, I don't care about that sport, I only care about American Football, basketball, and golf.

I really don't know what's wrong with them.
But then I really never quite grasped the full extent of the beauty of the game.
I do hope you find out, though, so you can tell them and they'll have another winning streak, make it to the play off and then win the all american football tournament. ... the Super Bowl, right?

They really should work on their passing play, they are 3rd in the league when it comes to offensive running plays, and first when it comes to defense against running plays. But they suck when it comes to defending against passing plays. Maybe they just had a fluke year when they went to the Super Bowl. lol

Actually, it's spelled differently in each language. Why don't you google that? Your argument dies here, since you choose to attack it, yet you don't care about it. Thanks for coming out! :)

Each language as in American and British English? Cause I was quite sure we agreed on speaking English... most of the times.

Look, I never got futbol ok? I played it as a kid, and I never liked it. I mean you just kick a ball around for an hour and half and whee. Now I never got golf either, until I played it, and now me, my brother, and a group of our friends play in seasons. I can knack the stupid game because I played it, but I won't because people can choose what sport they want to watch, and talk about, and that's fine with me.

Uh, no. How about English in general, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Hebrew, Mandarin, Japanese, Tamil, I could go on and on. Please don't tell me you're that closed-minded that you don't know of other languages than English. :)

I do, in fact, know about other languages than English, as many non-English speakers do.
But that's exactly what I meant. I think it's generally agreed upon that, with the exception of foreign language threads, these forums are in English...

I know how you feel (about the Panthers). Ever since they got started I rooted for them (having spent much time in NC) and I even have a CP-sweater.

Anyway, can't really answer your question but I keep my fingers crossed for them :D

Fox rides on the success of a Good team.. Just like Billick did at Baltimore..

BTW my bet is that Carolina will make it to the Play offs...

Just look at all the teams that the New England Patriots have beaten in the Super Bowls. The Rams - terrible. The Panthers - inept. The Eagles - imploded. Obviously losing to the Patriots is a mortal blow to a team. :D

The Panthers are good but inconsistent. Whenever you have a team that fits that description, there are two possible explanations. One is that you have a team full of average players who are well-coached, and so they are sometimes able to play as a team above their individual skill levels and make some outstanding plays. The other possibility is that you have a team full of great players who are poorly coached, so that individually they can make some great plays, but don't always work well together as a team.

Take your pick as to which applies to the Panthers.

Who cares about the Carolina Panthers? I know this is going to offend some people, but let me explain: I care about the Carolina Panthers cheerleaders, not the actual team. My reason being that two of their cheerleaders were caught having sex in a bathroom stall inside a bar. When that happens, who cares about the team?

Perfect advice. I live there and that's exactly what I have been doing. And of course watching Duke basketball.

Well Fox was better than the last coach the Panthers had. I mean the last coach couldn't even get them the season that Fox has been giving them. I mean back when The Panthers had George Siefert, they had 1-15 seasons. The Panthers was the laughing stock of the NFL before John Fox came along. I'd admit Fox isn't the greatest coach of all time, but he's alot better than Panther's last coach.

Dude, its parody. Everybody does really well for a little while. The Pats are an abnormality. And of course, they had a long streak of low years.

Well Fox was better than the last coach the Panthers had..better than 1-15..? I agree he is better...

I think they have several great players on both sides of the ball... Carolina is one Great team.. but their Coach is not great.

Give that team to Billichek, Dungy, Shanahan or Lovie Smith .. and I can see them winning the Super bowl.

Fútbol is the Spanish spelling of football. Language purists say balompié, but I haven't heard that one in a long time, so maybe language purists just gave up.

As for what's wrong with the Panthers, I agree with the poster who said they have to work on their defense against pass. Other than that they have a very good team.

A new record...it takes until the 20th post until this was brought up.

Anywho, the Panthers are out of luck because they are inconsistent and in the same conference as the Seahawks...

I, however, am out of luck because I root for the Miami Dolphins, who are never good enough to win anything and never bad enough to get a good draft pick (except last year, and Ronnie Brown helped.)

Also, Duke sucks. UNC will own them this year.

I'd rather figure out what was wrong with the officiating at the Michigan/Nebraska Alamo Bowl. Teams running on the field while the ball's in play, etc. The Wolverines were robbed.

Just be glad that they aren't the Atlanta Falcons. Without Vick, we wouldn't have any reason to watch the games.

Well if the Panthers want any chance to make the Playoff, they are going to have to crush the Falcons and hope that Tampa Bay loses their next game. However, since Tampa Bay is playing the Saints, they might win that one. Eh who knows, maybe the Saints will actually beat the Bucks this Sunday.
