Who do you dump?

I have a question here. The White Sox have 6 starting pitchers and only need 5. Which one should they trade?

Mark Buehrle: signed through 2006 with club option for 2007

Jose Contreras: signed through 2006. Wants 2-3 year extension to stay in Chicago

Freddy Garcia: signed through 2007. gets 9 mil in 06 and 10 mil in 07

Jon Garland: signed 3/29 deal to keep him through 2008. Gets 7 mil in 06, 10 in 07 and 12 in 08

Brandon McCarthy: has 6 seasons when he is arbitration eligible and inelligible for free agency. Cheap at $350K this year. Shut out heavy hitting Boston and Texas in rookie season. High ceiling.

Javier Vazquez: signed through 2008. Struggled since leaving Montreal, but part of contract paid by cash from Arizona that came in deal. Can be an ace

I voted for Freddy Garcia. Too pricey in the short term.

I can see what you are saying. He is a pitcher who can win 20 games in a season, but he seems to struggle at the hitter friendly US Cellular Field. He is very good on the road and during day games, but he needs to learn to win at home.

If I'm Kenny Williams, the only pitchers I put as untouchable are McCarthy (he's the future and cheap) and Buehrle (you never trade your ace.)

None. Move McCarthy into the bullpen as a LRP.

I can see the logic in doing this, but I think McCarthy is the 2nd coming of Blackjack McDowell. he is better suited in the starting rotation. I personally would trade Garland for a couple of top line relievers. I mean they have to replace el Duque, Marte, and Vizcaino. Cotts, Hermanson, Jenks, and Politte are good, but the Sox can't expect to get complete games every day like in the ALCS. They need some more arms to keep their pen healthy. The new Garland contract makes him great trade bait. I like Garland, but he has only really had one good half of a season in 5 years of Major League experience. He fell apart in the 2nd part of 2005. We saw the return of "Judy" Garland. (I didn't give him that name, other Sox fans did.)

I have no idea what this is about.

Fass, this is a discussion about the sport of baseball.

It is all irrelevant. Toronto will edge out the Sox for the WC. :D

Sorry, the WC won't matter. The Sox will win the Central and then go flying through the postseason again.

The Jays are dead. You have no bats and overpay for .500 pitchers. Oh yeah, thanks a lot for driving up the already over-inflated pitching market.
