Comfort level too high?

So today I was listening to one of my fav bands, had a taste for a bit of a marathon for some reason. Slid a bunch of Metallica into my playlist and set it on full volume. Then I got sleepy. Like I'm gonna fall asleep right now kind of sleepy. From a full evening wakefullness to singing quietly along while half asleep on the couch. I've been listening to them since I was very young, and while they've had some ups and downs they're always there. Even when my life was a mess there were always the boys to turn to. I figured out that I was so comfortable with them, that they were sort of a symbol of some sort of stability through my teenage years and now into my 20s and beyond, that they were like safe. What happened to me today isn't a unique situation in my own life, but I just realized what it meant, and I was curious if anyone felt the same. My husband was all ?!?!?!?!?!?!?! at me but I don't know if I'm the only one out there with something like this.

Share your stories! Doesn't have to be about music, but something that's not normally inspiring of 'safe, secure, time to relax and maybe have a nap' type of connection in your brain / life. Or just comment on how freaking messed up I have to be to be all comfortable sleeping with full blasted metal going on around me. Whatever :)

Okay, I'll tell you you're toatally messed up for getting a nice nap in while Metallica was playing...but only because of experience.

The last time I did that, I was sick with the mother of all colds (took 2 months to shake that little bug) so I was loopy on meds already. I decided to take a nap in the middle of the day, so I put Puppets in (to drown out the apartment noises), set the player to loop the CD, and bedded down. I don't know if it was the drugs, the music, or the perfect combination of the two, but I slipped from that last semi-awake moment right into the freakiest set of dreams I've ever had. (oh yes, set...they were all over the place.)

Hmmm....might be time to repeat the experiment....

Well, when I started falling asleep listening to Metallica I realized it was time to move on to the Locust. ;)

Hey, I fell asleep with Metallica in once too, it was a warm summer day in a park near my school during noon-break. I had put Metallica in my discman and lay down and closed my eyes. My arse-friends left me to sleep while they headed back to school.
I thanked them for it later:D

i think i know what you mean and iron maiden and myself have a similar sort of relationship.
however i lost all my music in May and have yet to replace any maiden or 'tallica, and i think, considering that special "comfort" relationship, maybe this is (part of) why i decided to break from the old me and start anew (or at least losing this identifying music helped the process)

I've been listening to Metalica since the Master of Puppets 1986, but I have had a truely great relationship with Judas Priest "since Sad Wings of Destiny 1976" & at times even now I'll pop in a few albums worth in the player, don my SennHeisers & just simply go to another world.
Trust me we all have our place & medium for taking us there

Deftones is my Metalica. But that story totally relates to me.

Does this mean that Metallica has been even more boring lately than I'd thought?
