Upsides and downsides

Most of you have lived in more than one place so far, many have lived in more than one city, and a good number have lived in more than one country.

I came to Ireland from Germany nearly 3 years ago, and have noticed things that are better here than they were in Germany and other things which were better in Germany. So, I put together a little list.
I'd be curious as to what similar lists from all of you would look like :

Downside : Winters don't get as cold, there's hardly ever any snow
Upside : Summers in Ireland are nowhere near as hot as they were in Germany

Upside : I got a job 2 weeks after arriving here
Downside : It's not exactly the kind of job I wanted and studied for, and there's very little job security

Downside : Nobody here has ever heard of "Der Schuh des Manitou"... nor would they understand the gags
Upside : There's Father Ted

Downside : No real Doener Kebab to be had for love or good money
Upside : Fried breackfast! :D

Downside : The busses are ridiculously unreliable
Upside : Nobody really cares if you're exactly on time or not, and the busses are always a good excuse

Downside : Rents are more than double those of Germany
Upside : I get 1/3 more money, though ;)

Downside : Irish and British "fashion" takes some getting used to
Upside : It's easier to get tops with nice cleavage and fishnet stockings (German fashion tend to be prude to the extreme)

Downside : Alcohol is more expensive
Upside : You get good whiskey everywhere

Downside : It's a small country, with a lot of problems on its own, so I feel I'm losing perstective on international affairs
Upside : It's quiet. And it's surrounded by the sea, I love that

I'm pretty sure I'll think of some more later on, but that's it for the moment.
Let's see your lists

Germany v Australia

Upside
Germany has better weather (I'm one for cold and rainy days).
Downside
Many Germans have crappy attitudes.

Upside
Germany has football.
Downside
Germany doesn't have Cricket.

Upside
Germany is close to everything that matters.
Downside
Except a decent university.

Upside
You can get decent used cars in Germany.
Downside
The traffic sucks there more than here.

Upside
So much neat stuff that I miss. Like Negerküsse.
Downside
It's much harder to really make friends in Germany.

Upside
Germany has history, Australia doesn't. There's nothing to see here.
Downside
If you remember it, you're a Nazi. :p

Upside
Germany has a lot of media, and some of it is sensible. Australia only has SBS.
Downside
Not everyone in Germany speaks English.

Upside
Compared to Australians, Germans are positively reliable and trustworthy.
Downside
The economy sucks, and that makes people grumpy.

And so on and so forth...

hmmm southampton vs winchester (only lived 2 places really)

upside: soton is less snobby
downside: winchester was smarter and cleaner

upside: soton has the docks and cranes, industrial stuff thats cool to look at
downside: winchester is surrounded by beautiful rolling hills

upside: soton is the goth capital of the south of england (well pompey is trying to take over...bah) so, dispite not being 'goth' i still feel comfortable here like nobody's going to judge you too much
downside: the goths

upside: more stuff to do here in soton
downside: winchester had a great swimming pool. soton only has one for a city > 4 times the size

downside: moved from a big victorian mansion to this shitty little house
upside: err...i'm less snobby, spoiled and you come to know the value of things after being poor (but it has made me bitter, twisted and angry)

upside: soton is on the water and i love that
downside: no beaches. 30 mile drive to our nearest one (damn sprawling docks...)

upside: largest shopping mall in this half of britain
downside: consumerist nonsense and pap. brainwashing that buying stuff makes one happy.

upside: lived 2 minute walk from my school here (and its a good school - 450 years old and in top 10 secondary schools in the country)
downside: i can see the school from my damn bedroom windows! i can't escape it

upside: we now live a 1 minute walk away from the massive soton common (big, ancient park)
downside: used to have a garden. and be surrounded by fields and rolling hills *sighs*
upside: now closer to the new forest, where there are some great photo opportunities *nods* (like theeeese (http://www.hlj.me.uk/pics/New%20Forest%20171205%20pics/new%20forest1.htm)!!)
