Ya might just wake up next to a Horse Head...

Pranksters gift-wrap goat's head, leave it on front porch

Published December 28, 2005

PALOS HEIGHTS -- In what police believe was a holiday prank, a young woman unwrapped a gift box left on her Palos Heights porch last week to find a skinned goat's head, officials said Tuesday.

The 18-year-old woman, whom police declined to identify, found the box wrapped in Christmas paper about 1:40 p.m. Thursday on her front porch in the 12300 block of 76th Avenue, authorities said. The woman found no blood on the box.

"We think it was a distasteful prank," Palos Heights Police Detective Adam Nagy said. "That's the thought we have right now."

The woman told police that the only rationale she could think of for the heartless gift was her eating habits, Nagy said. She told investigators she is a vegan, a vegetarian who avoids all animal products.

Even though the goat's head looks like the work of pranksters rather than mobsters, police are taking the investigation seriously, Nagy said, and were trying to lift fingerprints from the package.

Authorities said they did not know if any local farms were missing a goat.

Snerk.

Only 2 caviats:
#1 - I hope the goat was killed humanely and properly roasted
#2 - If the "victim" wasn't a political/protester type vegan, shame on them. Otherwise... ROTFLMAO

My first thought would have been some kind of Santaria or Palo Mayombe ritual and I live in NJ, home of the Sopranos.

Usually, but sometimes goats too. I remember an article in Weird NJ that talked about malnourished goats being found wandering about urban areas because they escaped from the homes where they were being held prior to sacrifice.

Heh, this is what happens when everything but the bars and liquor stores shut down at 11:00 in a big city. Kids drink, kids do stupid things. Hell, I remember a game played in my youth that we called "chundering." It involved throwing roles of dirt cheap toilet paper at yuppies from a moving vehicle as they left the bars in Wrigleyville and Lincoln Park. We would coordinate with walkie talkies so we could get waves of TP on the same targets from car after car. Seriously...boredom is a dangerous thing.

Doesn't chunder mean to throw up?

My friends and I did similar things but with food. Imagine taco bell buritos plastering the windows of your car at a red light or chicken wings being flung at you while walking your dog.

Chunder does mean to throw up, and it is related to the founding of the game ;)

See, food, that just wrong. Toilet paper oesn't really make much of a mess, but it can be damn disorienting when it has a good tail going. Ahh...my misspent youth.
