How long?

Let's say your a 12 year old boy. You're playing at your parents house, and one day your visited by an angel. This angel tells you that he is the voice of God, and that he tells you that not only are you the Son of God, but God himself. He tells you that when you were put on earth to be the salvation of your people, you will preach of love, tolerance, and peace. However, the same people you have come to save will betray you. How long do you think it would take for you to come to grasp with something that huge? In the New Testament Jesus Christ went from age 12, to age 30. What happened to the missing 18 years?

a poll is coming.

I believe the Fox Network dramatised it quite well in Jesus: The Party Years

Almost immediately. I doubt Jesus had an IQ of 180 at that age.

I'm not sure. Commitment to a mental institution might slow the process down a bit. If I ever did come to accept it I wouldn't do god's will. I would simply remake the world according to my own personal beliefs. Oh, and I'd be rich as hell.

I'd take 18 years of therapy. Considering there are no more prophets after Mohammad, and God does not have sons.

This raises an interesting question. Now not to stray from the original topic, but when religious doctrine states that something is mandated by god and set in stone (i.e. Mohammed the final prophet) does that mean God himself is bound to his own word, or being god could he simply alter his own laws and prophecies and shit?

Yes I did get this from the movie Dogma, and the reason I posted it was that well, it did raise an intresting point of the missing 18 years of Jesus's life.

And if he did change her mind would it have to alter the Koran and everyone's memory of it or could they just leave the document alone and change the rules without letting anyone know about it?

The pronoun confusion above is my effort to respect everyone's idea about who god(s) might be.

Surely if you were God you would know that you are God.

Ahhh, but what if the divine plan was to let you grow up normally, not reveal to you that you are the son of God until God feels like it's time?

Yeah Id play alot of cards and anything gambling. Id kill any infadel that stands in my way. Id erect solid gold likeness' of me every 20 feet. As I move on to puberty, Id have every virgin woman line at my door for an introduction into the world. :fluffle: I would randomly turn sheep inside out. I would make the high preists hallucinate, forcing them to question their beliefs and the entire structure of Judaism. I would bring a H2 from the future and drive it through town, running over as many in the way as possible. At night, I would turn the sky red, just for the hell of it. Man, it would be fun to be god.

Maybe Jesus was just finishing up school and taking a year off to party before starting his job. It's not like he's going to get passed up for the position, I mean it's his dad's business.
