This is the unteenth time my wireless USB adapter has lost the signal from the router. I've tried changing both the location of the router and the direction of its reception nodes to try and boost the incoming/outgoing signal, but my computer still cant receive a strong enough signal to maintain a constant connection to the net.

What is going on here?!

I suppose it could just be a bad adapter. Not the most likely possibility, but it's always there.

Do you have a 2400 MHz cordless phone? Sometimes they interfere with the 2400 MHz WiFi signal.

Any other devices that can receive the wireless router signal?

A friend of mine had a similar problem. It turns out a neighbor had a really powerful router that was broadcasting on channels 1, 6 AND 11 at such a high "power" that it was effectively blocking out the other channels, and any nearby routers. In his case, he did not change the default administrator password and my friend went in and reconfigured it for him.

Yea, apparently my adapter also picks up internet signals from my neighbors' houses and my dad's company laptop...but I can't access the net through them because those channels are all locked.

You might try changing the channel your router is on. It could just be too much all trying to use the same channel.
