n-days a week?

So I'm reading various utopian and futurist sites and I come across an interesting idea... Changing the number of days in a week.
Apparantly the Soviets tried 5 and 6 day weeks for a while, although they only got one day off so I don't think we'd want those.
Here are articles advocating 8 and 9 day weeks.....

I'd also say it might be possible to have a 6 day week with 4 work days, and 2 rest days. (And I guess you could split it among 3 work groups) This might lower productivity, but I think we are already too productive for our own good...
So what do you think? Would you change the number of days in a week?

I'm liking the nine day week idea: 6 on, 3 off. Would make scheduling easier. I don't know if you've had to make out work schedules for a place that runs 24/7, but it's pretty tough to get it where you have even coverage for all days and still have everyone have two contiguous days off.

I chose 8 days simply 'cuz 8 is my fave number. :D
But 9 days sounds nice. :)

I'm too used to the 7 day system to change now!

Whatever. Wake me up when the apocalypse destroys the world.
I'll stick with seven.

Wonderful! An extra day or two to do absolutely nothing.
I don't see how extending the week would really change anything for the better. We'd have to adjust to a new calendar, upgrade our computer clocks, likely work an extra day. Seven days a week doesn't seem too bad a deal to me, so I don't see much of a reason to change anything.
If they do change the week, perhaps we could move onto a new era while we're at it. That'd be pretty cool. :D

4 working
3 off
call me lazy, but americans are too much of workaholics, something needs to make up for the lack of vacation. >_<;

I prefer 3 (12 hour) consecutive days on, 4 off. Last good job I had was set up that way. Worked Friday through Sunday had the rest of the week off, it rocked.
So what do you think? Would you change the number of days in a week?
I don't see the point of forcing ourselves into some arbitrarily imposed artificial rhythm. Therefore I think the concept of a 'week' is pointless.
No, it's seven because the Babylonians made it so.

No, and I have a more legitimate reason... being thats how the math boffins worked it out
I shudder at the thought what people would call the extra days. So I'll stick with the seven we have.

Personally I would like to switch to Metric Time (http://zapatopi.net/metrictime/), but adjusting to the switch would be too difficult.

I like the seven day week, although the six week would be nice, one less work day.

Works need to be 10 days! :D
Pretty much everything is based on the metric system nowaydays (except for a few looneys still using inch and such  )
The week should be arranged like this: (W=Work, F=Free):
W W W F W W W W F F
In a 7-day week we would have 260 potential work days, and with this 10-days week, we would have 256 potential work days, only insignificantly less, so no loss of productivity! :D
However, people wouldn't have to work that much in one go, and thus would have less stress and work more productively, which would even increase productivity! :D
We would the have 12 months with exactly 30 days each in which fit 3 weeks each, and for the time between Xmas and New Year we would have an additional 5-day (half-week) month. This one could then also be extended to 6 days for leap years.

Seven is just fine. As if anyone would do more or less with another day of the week. That would just reduce the number of weeks a year - and how much good would that do? Nada.
Even the Beatles said that eight days a week ain't enough, right? So why bother.
How about 1 day a week. We could have 365.25 weeks a year... http://www.studip.uni-goettingen.de/pictures/smile/irre.gif

Come to think of it - I would cast my vote for the Heavenly Sex Calendar!
