Well this goes out to all the Xbox 360 owners out there. Did you end up buying yours or did you recieve it for a gift? If you bought it how much? Also what do you think of the system?

I was thinking about getting one, but I'll wait for the PS3. At least, for the PS3 to drop down in price.

Just wanted to point out that you can buy a Japanese version Xbox. This is the one I have. They are far cheaper than the outrageous prices on ebay for a US model. You can buy the premium version on Ebay for about $350. They operate on the same plugs and electrical current. Although I do believe Japan runs a 100 vs our 110. But it is the same hz so your fine. That way you can play all the cool japanese and US games. Just an idea for you out there. Have not hooked it to Xbox live yet. My son is to young to listen to the crap streaming from others mouths on live yet. Also you need to change the settings to English over the Japanese it's currently set on. That is the only downside that I have seen so far.

Haven't got one yet, but when I do me and my parents are gonna go halves - its the best I could get them going for.

But yeah I'm gonna wait for a month or two, until they release a shipment without all the minor bugs and stuff, and possibly even a price drop...

Incidentally Colodia, don't get the PS3, 360 is waaaay better. Come on - Halo 3! Need more be said?

isn't the ps3 in late 2006 and around $700? For simply updated graphics instead of new technology?

i also am waiting for the next shipment so the price drops to its original level.

Nah, I think it was around $300-400. $700 is just stupid.

New technology? As much or more than the 360. And they actually make wireless controllers a standard instead of making customers pay for a "premium" package like Microsoft is doing to their buyers.

Nope, I live in the UK and fell victim to the old motherf***ing sellout. I really HATE it when I see adverts saying that the 360 is a "great console", a "new experience" and above all a "must-have"! I feel like punching someone when I load up my old XBOX and see that stupid advert. Don't you see I want a 360 but can't have one!

All you 360 owners over there, and I wish I was one of you, you had better install good burglar alarms, because there'll be ten burglars a night in your house, and install turnstiles and start charging people to use your 360s!

Mom tried hard but no. She actually got close with a premium for $670 but it was an asshole in England (Man, thought they were nice.) who phished us and mom was smart and stopped before she even transferred a penny. I got a PSP though and I will be buying the 360, PS3 AND the Revolution. Ahhhh, good to be 14 with a job. No Insurance.

Yep, I got it free about a week before it came out. The graphics are extraordinarily improved, but I don't think its that great. Oh well, just gonna wait until PS3.

I also want to ammend this and say it is region locked for DVD which is BS. Some of the games will not work due to region locking. So you would have to do research if your thinking of buying a Jap version Xbox.

My buddy Mike got one. It looks amazing, but I've yet to see a game for it that is worth the price of getting a whole new system, when my computer currently has much better specs, obviously.

This machine blows me away.

People are paying $1500 on ebay for one.

It's worth how much?

PT Barnum was right.

Didn't get one, I don't see that many games besides Halo 3 that would be worth buying a whole system for.

I'm accessing this web site on my XBox 360 right now. It's so *crashes*.
Sorry, it's so *crashes*.

I don't really have an XBox 360. It released too fast; I can't believe it was properly tested. And the numerous reports of faulty systems, plus the fact that it was made by Microsoft agree with me.
I'm waiting for Nintendo's Revolution system. They're using bluetooth in the controller to detect where the controller is, allowing for sword fights, arcade style shooters... that thing's going to be the first console better than a PC.

Basically the greater fool theory is in charge here. Although the system is top notch I would suggest anyone that is willing to pay $1500 to buy a nice computer instead.

Grrr... how can I get one when there's almost negative numbers of 360s here in the UK? Thank god I've got an Xbox 180, at least it reads the disks... most of the time... ... (no flame intended)

Well, technically I didn't get one, but my boyfriend got one for Christmas from his mom and that means it's sorta mine too, since I live with him and all, so I said yes. =)

Heh I have that on the PC, the superior version. That's another thing, most of the games I want for the 360 are either already or soon to be released on the PC.

Well, yeah. But my graphics card on my computer cannot handle Call of Duty 2.

And to upgrade it costs too much as well.

Finally, the X360 shortage has paid off. Whilst viewing my Xbox Live friends list (it's quite short) I noticed that someone was in their Xbox 360 dashboard. The small-scale fervent rage that ensued carried over to the OptiMatch Halo 2 CTF game I was playing and our team won (with me being joint highest).

People must wet their pants laughing at me when they find out I'm still on a classic Xbox.

Sorry I keep obsessing...

Wait, did you try at EB Games or GameStop? If you went to etheir of these stores, it might explain the shortages, because both are owned by the same people, thus making less copies avaible.

XBox games have never appealed to me, and I am certainly not going to shell out the ridiculous prices for a 360. I'm waiting for the Revolution. Until then I'm perfectly happy with my GameCube and PS2 (just got God of War! Woot!)

No. One, they aren't releasing them here until mid next year, I don't think.

Two, X-box games suck. The only two that i've actually played and liked (Knights of the Old Republic, GTA San Andreas) are available on PC anyway.

Three, I don't have that kind of money to waste on one.

Japanese? Clever? Hmm....

I was thinking more along the lines of Microsoft being stupid for getting equal distribution and making too much of a big deal over the Japanese market. It sold out in the US and in Europe, but there were 100,000 of the damn things collecting dust in Japanese stores.

And MS's failed attempt to invade the Japanese market is going to be even more embaressing, now that there haven't been enough Xbox360s to sate demand here and the PS3 is probably going to out-sell the 360.

As for why I don't have a 360:

1-There are none.
2-$400 for a machine worth $300 or $300 for a machine worth dick. So difficult....
3-No Oblivion. Without Oblivion, there is no point in buying an Xbox360. Moreover, there are no games that scream 'Buy Me!' with the 360, the way Halo did.

In short, Microsoft pulled a Sony on this one. And after so long as playing the gamer-friendly company, too.

I could have gotten a Core system at the store. I was in line, and the guy handing out vouchers gave me one for a core system, I just handed it to the next guy in line and went home. Some people will call me crazy, but I'm going to get the Premium when they have fixed the bugs.

So I can laugh at people and say I had one in my hands, but gave it away!
