I'm searching for information of my maternal grandfather. I just barely discovered his name and I want to know more about him.

I've tried google but I can't find anything useful.

Anyone know of a site that gives you any bit of information from Colombian records? I'm quite sure he lives in Colombia. Prison records, business records, anything.

First off, never google anything. Secondly, you need to spend some money and buy a ticket to Colombia and search there. If he immigrated here, you might want to visit the town hall where he lived here. That's all I can think of right now. The internet isn't really helpful for family trees, but can be very helpful at times(thanks to some relative usually).

Contact the embassy. Much quicker and easier - provided they are in a good mood of course.

Look for immigration records from the feds. Unless he never came here. Then look for like Columbian citizenship records, I guess. Finding family histories are really hard :headbang: ...

I'd love to help ou Colodia, but that is much more my dads cup of tea. He tracked my family a long time back, 15th century Ireland I believe.

i take it from the "lives in colombia" part that he is still alive.

was he born there? was your mother? you need to get as much info from her or other relatives as you can. what town he might be in for example.

even if your mom doesnt want to talk about him, she might talk about her childhood in colombia (if she grew up there) and give details that you might use. if she has a sister, that sister will tell you stuff that your mom never will

once you know where he lives or who he works for or someone he knows down there its all a matter of how hard you want to look for him.
