Well, Hamburger SV - but I also like Schalke and sometimes Bremen. Never been much of a fan of St. Pauli.
More generally, I like Barca at the moment. But my real passion is with the national teams.

Yeah, I'd hope Germany. But I don't think they have a realistic chance to win - it would take a bit of a miracle.
I'd have to put my money on Brazil, I'm afraid.
As for Poland, I know little about the team, but some German analysts have warned that they could be strong, and their coach has been talking tough.

i dunno...on one hand germany i wouldnt normall pick, but they are on home turf (for clubs home turf doubles a chance of win, dont know about national teams), remember korea in 02 though, they came from nowhere and got pretty far. right off the bat poland and germany matched up, if poland wins that match, id put money on a metal for them, itll create confidnece and fear, but germany will surely lose all momentum...
germany also has some very strong and experienced individuals on their team (not that most world teams dont )
michael ballack could carry them, he came close to last time, and i have to love him as a bayern fan...

They had Guus - as Australia does now. :D
But we'll see. With a bit of luck, and good performances early on, they might perform. I'm hopeful.

the only really interesting or surpising one is group E
Italy
Ghana
USA
Czech Republic
I'm afraid the US is in trouble here. As I said before, I haven't seen them play for more than three years, but Italy and the Czech Republic would have to be big favourites.
1. Czech Republic
2. Italy
i can see czech and italy winning, but big favorites... despite the us never having big world cup success, they arent the kind of team id count out early on, correct me if im wrong but italy beat out us in 02 i nvery close game (that or my memory is getting bad), and czech vs usa is anyones game as far as im concerned.

Meh, I consider the Czech Team to be the underdogs in this one, who will come out and surprise everyone. They drew Brazil just a while ago, and FIFA ranks them on #2.

hmmm czechs are only ranked so high, cuz theyve only faced like 2 good teams in their last 20 matches (sweden...and netherlands maybe?)
aside from that its like norway, andorra, finland slovenia, macedonia and all low level teams, meanwhile czech is pretty good, but better than usa...i dunno, put usa against macedonia and you got a guarenteed minimum lead of 5 goals

Who could say?
The Czech Republic is strongly integrated in the European Football Community, their players are playing in big clubs, they know how to face big teams themselves. Plus they are very capable technically.
The US on the other hand may have talent, but they don't get to play big games regularly. I think you'd agree that their domestic league is not of as high a quality as some of the European ones.
But as I said, we'll see. I'd still put my money on the Czechs, also keeping in mind that for them, it's just a quick drive across the border.

good enough, or as my awful german goes, something like gut genug..
i was hoping to be able to go over and watch some of the matches, justnot in the budget this yr though, instead new place, new hdtv etc etc.
thats fair though, czech is probably more comfortable there than usa

Why does everyone always see the Czech Republic as underdogs? They've clearly demonstrated in the last few years that they deserve to be top 5 in the world, yet people still say they're underdogs or 'dark horses'. I won't be surprised if they make it to the semi-finals (although I've predicted they'll get knocked out in the quarter finals). They should easily finish top of their group.

Well, let's just say that they haven't made themselves into one of the traditional football names yet. But I agree that they have what it takes to go far.
