WTF is up with the weather?

OK, so it's Dec. 26, I'm in Maine, for god's sake, and it's been raining and about 40F (5C) for the last two days! I'm no fan of snow (you try pushing a wheelchair through a snow bank), But you're talking about a place where the average high this time of year is 28F (-2C). So I was wondering; is anyone else experiencing unusual weather?

Not yet, but it's meant to snow here tomorrow. I'm in the UK!

It is warm here also, mid-thirties when it should be closer to 10's and 20's and zero at night.

I'm not holding my breath, I'll be honest. And if it does snow, I hope it's not too much, and it's gone by Wednesday. Or at least, it doesn't delay any trains on Wednesday.

Going up to see my girlfriend in Nottingham. Possibly. I will be severely pissed off if I can't, because in that case it'll be another 2 weeks before I see her.

Ahh. Well I doubt that the train will be delayed any more than it usually is

It was a warm and sunny day here before christmas, I switched into a T-shirt. On christmas it was raining but still pretty warm. It's global warming.

Not a hint of unusual weather here in Ireland. Its cold, cloudy, wet and windy. Typical all year round weather really.

Well, the snow is here in Bangor. The rain chaged over within the last hour or so.

Normally it would be -10 C here, but now it's barely below zero, if below at all! Damn the greenhouse effect...

In mid November, we had a week of thick fog. It was impossible to see anything 50 feet away. Then the first few days of December, it snowed. The last time I remember snow in December was about 7 or 8 years ago. Then it was really fucking cold for a week and a half. The high for those days were about 5C (40F). The weather looks like it is almost back to normal. It rained for about three days straight, right before xmas. Usually it rains for about 4 or 5 days straight.

Yep. I'm in NJ and it's been unusually warm. Today it was all rainy and gross.

Almost the same conditions in Ontario.

Outside is like walking into a humid fridge, instead of the normal sensation of walking into a dry freezer this time of year.

It's much the same here in Minnesota. Sure it's unusual, but I'm not complaining.

Usually hovers around 40 here and it has been doing that but the temp has been dipping to 30 for a high to 50 for a high. Usually we can get up to 6 inches of snow and then it all melts in a week. Nothing new really.

Yeah. The sun has come out now though. It's reasonably warm, but it usually gets *hot* at this time of the year. Sometimes over 40 degrees celsius (104 degrees fahrenheit).

I'm in Phoenix and it's been hitting about 80F for the past few days. Very unusual, since December (especially late December) is generally much, much colder (highs in the low 60s). What makes it especially weird though is that it got very, very cold all of a sudden about 2 weeks ago, and now its unseasonably warm. Very bizarre weather indeed.

True, and I certainly don't mind temps being 10-15 degrees F above normal, but it's been raining, and as I write this, it's 23F (-5C) and snowing. That means that under the expected 2-4 in. of snow, there's a nice little layer of ice.

a couple of years ago I could walk over the ice to the other side of some lakes (Middelburg, Zeeland, The Netherlands)

Now it appears to be spring (at least in temperature)

Well, it snowed here this morning. There's maybe an inch (that's a blizzard here, soon there will be stories in the news about Britain coming to a standstill). I was very kindly woken at 8 to be informed of this fact, so I promptly went back to sleep. It won't stay for long, I give it until Friday at the very latest, more likely Thursday.

I'm in Northern Washington state, and it's been unusually warm and rainy as opposed to cold and snowy. It's forecasted to reach 60 degrees F, which is almost unheard of at this time in the year. Global Warming? I just don't know...

I remember when people blamed "the strange weather" on atomic bomb tests, or jetliner contrails, or anything else handy. We are short-lived creatures and trying to use personal experience when dealing with things like the weather, volcanism, climatic change, or tectonic plate movement is specious.
