What did you do for Christmas? My wife was out of town because her dad is sick so a friend and I went the buffet at the casino. Has a fantastic dinner before hitting the slot machines. I lost $19.64. My friend lost about $20.00. We had a good time though. :)

Our entire family got together on Friday for a traditional Christmas meal. Then on Sunday evening, most of us who didn't have to work ( three of my children work in hospitals :( ) got together to eat and to let the little people open stuff. It was hilarious and loads of fun.

My aunt, uncle and 4 and 3/4 year old cousin came up from London on the
22nd and stayed until today.
It was my sister's 21st birthday on the 23rd and we had a 1920's themed party for her: gangsters and molls and all that jazz! Her boyfriend of 4 and 1/2 years proposed, and now she can't move her arm because of the weight of the diamonds on her finger!
Yesterday we had the most amazing Christmas dinner we've ever had, and it's generally been the best Christmas ever.

Stayed home with my immediate family. Had the piss taken out of me for being vegetarian and agnostic ('What's the point in you celebrating Christmas, then?'), and was told by my girlfriend she doesn't want me coming up to see her because she's ill. I see her point (she doesn't want me getting ill as well), but surely it's my choice?
Oh, and similarly annoyed my family with my anti-monarchy diatribe before, during, and after the Queen's speech.
I love Christmas, honest I do.

Reminded myself about how I got the best gift of my entire life 11 years ago-eternal life after death.

Everything else pales in comparison to that, although I did get some toolsets for my car, school stuff, gun stuff, and clothes.

Dodged hard fung foodstuffs at the breakfast table. Pretty much set the tone for the day.

Woke up, made coffee. Drank coffee, opened stockings. Made breakfast. Ate breakfast. Watched Queen's annual Christmas address. Opened presents. Put off assembly/installation of vacuum cleaner, phones, software and humidifier. Made green salad instead. Got showered. Went to in-laws with salad for Christmas lunch/dinner, served buffet style. Ate dinner. Played charades with niece and nephew. Went home. Passed out. Woke up and drank more coffee. Started showing interest in assmbling/installing vacuum cleaner, phones, software and humidifier. Looked at clock - half past ten. Logged on to NS instead.

Opened gifts (that's what Christmas is about, right?). Watched my family open gifts on which I spent $1000. Watched Bill O'Reilly espouse the "true meaning of Christmas." Went to Mass at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis and listened to Archbishop Burke's Christmas Eve Homily, after Burke excommunicated six Catholics and a priest (http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/religion/story/0FBBB145B49D6022862570E30026B1E0?OpenDocument) because they didn't obey the Will of God (aka Burke's authority).

Sometimes I hate this holiday. I'm glad the things that matter (friends and family) keep me sane.

Hmmm...I should probably start with the 23rd, since my holiday lasted three days in actuality (though I have a big family and relatives who don't often care for each other.)

23rd: Got up at around 8:45 when i was goign to sleep until 9:30...so much for sleeping in. Did a bunch of Christmas shopping, cleaned my mother-in-law's house, and prepared dinner for her deceased husband's family while they can over and unwrapped presents. They were surprisingly well-behaved. Found a watch that was presumed missing and stolen by my dog. Heard that my fiancee's best friend was in the hospital with a blood clot in her lungs and might not make it. Managed to open presents that night anyway (my fiancee and I celebrated Christmas together that night, opening all our presents to each other...I got a leather jacket and Family Guy: Stewie Griffin - The Untold Story, among other things...she got Paris Hilton's new perfume and a colossal box of assorted chocolates, among other things.)

24th: Woke up and did nothing for a while; my fiancee was at work. Did some last-minute stocking stuffers. Managed to fidn Reese's Pieces Peanuts, which we thought were impossible to find...got two big bags of them. Ate dinner and opened a few presents...mainly watched my mother-in-law open stuff. It's OK, because I got my big present...a cruise to Hawaii to take place in June for myself and my fiancee. We fly to Honolulu, get on the cruise there, and spend 7 nights on the cruise. Yayfun.

25th: Got up at 7:45...or tried to, and ended up geting up at 8:09. Went to my mom's and opened a bunch of presents, but ended up handing most of the presents out and opened mine last. Ate lots of good food and got to play with my uncle's Weimareners, my grandparents' Dachshunds, and my mom's very spoiled cats. Left there and went to my dad's, where I opened a bunch more presents, ate some more dinner, got the chance to unstuff and carve the turkey, took home a "care package" for my dog, and then went home. Gave my animals their presents, including watching my dog get chew toys rained on her. Fed the critters their Christmas dinners and then wound down.
