Strange animals....

I was wondering recently... why do we give parts of our bodies animal names?

I can understand things like pony tail, or even crow's feet or hare's lip. At least there's some resemblance to the animal in question. But... well, cock? Pussy? I wonder who came up with those...

Can't imagine that... pussy at least seems to be almost universal to European languages. That must have been one hell of a joke.

I know...I was there.
Remember the Dark Ages? Well coining the term "Pussy," instead of "Vagina," was what started it all...good times.

Really. As I understand it, in France there is the word minou (incidentally, the name of our cat, I was shocked when I found out  ), what is it in other European languages?

'Pussy' comes from 'tail' - specifically, cat's tail - women = traditionally associated with cats (arrogant, petty, indepentent minded, flouncing etc.). That's the entomology as I learned it...

"Cock" is easy. It comes from the term cock that refers to a rooster standing proud and tall. A good erection can be easily looked at the same way and thus the origin becomes obvious.

"Pussy" has been debated for a long time. The one I like is that in stroking the cat's fur the cat will purr. In stroking a woman in that wonderful, once traditionally hairy place, she would respond in kind as well.

No, never heard of it. I've certainly heard a vast amount of terms used for it, but this is not one.
I've however heard "Schnecke" being used for girls in general, but it's not very frequent.

I think it's really a regional thing. First time I heard it was from a guy from Bochum...

And yes, there are more than enough other words for it, both animals and plants :D

Weird... but just look what I found:
http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Boobs

Some quotes:
"In a 1997 study, Dr. Armand Fingerlit scientifically proved that boob size was inversely proportional to intelligence. In the study of 2700 college students, he found that small-breasted women tended to have a higher intelligence than their counterparts with larger breasts who were 'dumb as a sack of hammers'."
"Breasts and Warm Weather
It is generally known that when the weather becomes warmer, the visible sighting of boobs becomes more frequent. This is because their owners choose to wear less and less clothing the hotter it gets. This also holds true for staring at boobs. The more you stare at the boobs, more girls will become inclined to bare their boobs. It's a vicious cycle. Also as it gets colder the nipples that are located on the breasts (see Breast) perk up to send a signal to the male, this is an indication of a raging need for sex. (Rule of thumb if she is hard, you should have a raging penis too!)"
"3. In Nebraska, girls have removable boobs and sometimes choose to leave them at home for others to play with while they go work in the mines, toiling for days on end seeking the motherlode of creamy nougat."

reminds me of a joke:
One fine morning in Eden, God was looking for Adam and Eve, but couldn't find them. Later in the day God saw Adam and asked where he and Eve were earlier. Adam said, "This morning Eve and I made love for the first time."

God said, "Adam, you have sinned. I knew this would happen. Where is Eve now?"

Adam replied, "She's down at the river, washing herself out."

"Damn it," says God, "I'll never get that smell off the fish."

If a "pony tail" looks like a horse's tail. What do you think a pussy looks like.

As for cock, for those of you city people, when a rooster crows he stretches his neck out long and tall with the beak in the air. He does this as a mating exercise and to announce his dominance over the flock.

By the way "boner" comes from the fact that most animals have an actual bone that aids an erection.

No, I think the justification here'd be relative size - look at the size of the scorpion, then look at the size of its stinging tail.
