I'm going to pass on that. It seems like the Dave Matthews Band of movies, in that it's only talked about by a majority of annoying college chicks and the guys who try to sleep with them.

Eh, I wasn't impressed with it, just as I wasn't impressed when I saw it on stage several years ago.

Everyone has AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS!
AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS!
Everyone has AIDS!

And so this is the end of our story
And everyone is dead from AIDS
It took from me my best friend
My only true pal
My only bright star (he died of AIDS)

Well I'm gonna march on Washington
Lead the fight and charge the brigades
There's a hero inside of all of us
I'll make them see everyone has AIDS

My father (AIDS!)
My sister (AIDS!)
My uncle and my cousin and her best friend (AIDS AIDS AIDS!)
The gays and the straights
And the white and the spades

Everyone has AIDS!
My grandma and my dog 'ol blue (AIDS AIDS AIDS)
The pope has got it and so do you (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
C'mon everybody we got quilting to do (AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS AIDS)
We gotta break down these baricades, everyone has AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! AIDS! /movie summation.

I enjoyed it. It's no great work of art, but Rosario Dawson (Mimi) is hot, and any song that can encompass Buddha and dildos and not sound totally lame is fun to hear.

We had an Eastern European appreciation day, and most people either sang songs to the tune of like, yankee doodle, or some of us adventerous people sang to the tune of popular songs (i did 99 red balloons).
The two drama girls did a song to the theme of rent, and they put too much heart into it. After they sang that I never want to see that movie.
I want to see The Producers... Will Ferrel as a crazy Nazi... gimme

Hate to hafta be the one to point it out, but if you'e a conservative and you found that funny, you'e an asshole.

Check on what direction the creators blew the wind... it wasn't to the right.

Team America song which seems to sum up the stageplay/film quite readily
This is all I can think of when I hear about that movie.

I found the music trite and the lyrics mis-glorifying the "artist" lifestyle and grossly self-destructive and irresponsible behavior. I also found the use of the original cast to be laughable as they're all at least a decade older than the characters they're portraying. Jesus, Hollywood, give someone else a shot.

Goddamn it was good.
Not even Chris Columbus could ruin it.

I did a review of the stage musical Rent a long time ago and I still get crap about it and I still stand by what I said-
Find a re-run of Fame, watch it. Kinda the same thing without the pretence.

C'mon-Four characters with AIDS? Then it's not about artists, it's about AIDS with people who happen to be artists.

And the characters...sweet crap:
The apiring filmmaker who talks only in camera directions?

The 'Kooky' Performance Artist?

The aspiring musician who wants to write that one good song (One? Is he aspiring to be a one-hit wonder?)

The yuppie parents are laywers? I guess I should give them points for not being developers or real estate agents...

The Character Who Teaches Us How to Live and Love is named Angel? Seriously? Is that because naming him The Character Who Teaches Us How to Live and Love would have been too subtle?

I didn't like the music either, but to each thier own.

Yes there is:

Richard Simmons.

I believe I have won that argument.
