:sniper: What is the ideal temperature to keep your house? I keep mine at 68 all year. Too cold or too warm????

I do 68 in the winter and 72 in the summer, when it's freezing outside 68 feels warm and when it's over 100 then 72 feels quite nice.

My mom thinks I am crazy, and calls me the thermostat nazi, but my electric bill is 50% less than hers. So who is crazy? not me.

btw I will adjust the temp if people are uncomfortable but only a degree at a time.

My mom turns it to 80 if she is cold and then when she gets too hot she pops it down to 50, I think her heater is going to break soon. :(

My house is kept at a low temperature during the winter to save money. We keep it at 55 at night and 60 during the day. in the summer it keeps itself quite cool, around 70-75 degrees.

68 degrees was the standard until I got married. Now it's 75. Hehehe. That's okay. I just spend a lot of time naked now. :)

I have no idea what 68F is. In buildings I like it about 21C. Outside about 25C is perfect.

:mp5: By the way I do naked at 68 so 75 is out of the question unless I am in a cold shower.

It's a simple conversion. Multiply the temperature in degrees Celsius by 9, divide by 5 and then add 32.

So, 21C = 69.8 or 70F

25C is pretty hot for here. Inside around 16-17C seems comfortable.

I imagine that they are using the Fahrenheit scale.

How hot is my house? As hot as the insulation will make it in the summertime. In the winter probably about 18 degrees celsius. I don't see the need for the "constant temperature control" favoured by Americans.

Heh! I've accused my wife many times of not having any internal thermostat. She's always turned the heat up so high that I feel like I'm living in an oven! Once I called her a lizard because she has to have external heat to function ... once, that is. Heh!

I am much more likely to turn down the thermostat if people are hot than I am to turn it up if they are cold. I figure that once you have the fans going if you are still hot, then you are pretty uncomfortable the next step is to get naked, and well.......that's just not nice when guests are over (or is it?:p )

If you are too cold though, I have blankets and throws, and sweatshirts, and fuzzy socks...............I could go on for hours.

basically, you can always put more on, but once you are naked, there's no other options.

and then she gave you a good smack upside the head, and you reminded her how beautiful she is and how unworthy you are of her, and you escaped with your life?

that's how it would go at my house:p

Yes, we haven't caught up with the rest of the world. We still use miles, pounds and ounces, quarts and pints. We really need to catch up with the rest of the world. I lived in Spain for three years so I have the pounds and kilos, quarts and liters, and yards and meters thing down pretty well and can do conversions in my head. I never did get the miles and kilometers or F and C thing down though. :)

Only problem with having guests in the house and my going naked would be the number of deaths from people laughing their ass off and having heart attacks. :D

Tough call .... even in a well insulated house with a good a/c, you're not going to get much more than 20 degrees cooler than the outside temp.

So, in summer, inside the house is usually around 85 (that's about 30c).

We don't really have a Winter to speak of, in the traditional sense, and often still run the a/c well into January. When it does get "colder", it usually means it'll be around 50 (that's 10c) for a couple of weeks in February and at that point, nothing gets run, but we open the windows a lot.

22 C (72F) in winter, 20 C (68F) in summer (if the heating's on at all)
nb: don't have air con here. just central heating... this is rainy, cold ol' england FFS.

Miles - Kilometers isn't that hard, 1 mile - 1.6 kilometer (roughly).

Around 60 in the winter.

In the summer, there's not much we can do, as my house was built in 1899 and never had air conditioning installed. It doesn't get that hot in the summer here anyway. It's probably usually around 70.

About 25 C, I'd say. So I can walk around in shorts and things.

At the moment I'm going for +/- 23C in the day, and 20-21C at night.
I can't sleep if it's too warm, unfortunately I can't really wake up if it's too cold either  I wish I had a programmable thermostat. Actually, I'd be happy if I had a properly working one.

I find a temp of 55-60F to be fine as an outside temp, but I am comfortable well down into the single digits. As an inside temp, 65 works well.
