Big weekend coming up!

I hope to just enjoy being surrounded by my grandchildren and children and forget for awhile that there is more sadness and sorrow in the world than most of us can imagine.

I do want you to know that I care deeply about each and every one of you, regardless of religion, race, location or previous condition of n00bitude. I wish you and those to whom you feel close the very best of all the holiday season can offer. [ I said "holiday!" ] :D

If you should run into someone down on their luck, or dispondent, or depressed, or sick, or injured, or even just one of those little ladies ringing a bell next to a kettle, give them what you can, whether monetary or not. After all, they're human too and sometimes just a loving smile means more than you will know. And besides, it helps you at least as much as it does them.

As for me, I'm looking forward with great anticipation to being with my family, to watching the little people tear into presents, and to getting my first meal in a long time that doesn't come out of a can or box. :D

And please, know this: you are loved.

No matter how rejected you may have been in your life, no matter how you may have been misused, mistreated, or even abused, there's one old, gray-haired dweeb somewhere in North Carolina, USA, who loves you! [ and no, Gauthier and Cannot, I'm not kidding! ]

Happy Holidays, everyone! [ great, big, ole ForrestBear hug ]

Thanks Eut, I needed that today, I have had a pretty bad couple of days dealing with my mom. It is good to have someone who can help me refocus my vision.

I am really looking forward to seeing my kids open presents now ;)

The family Christmas craziness starts tomorrow morning at 6a, we will hit 8 houses by noon Christmas day. I will be exahusted and the kids will have more toys then they know what to do with:p

man i got angry at my mum the other night while we were in london and she refused to give the last of her change to this tramp guy, who was actually playing the sax very well. had he been simply a busker i'd have given him cash anyway: he was good! pissed me off cos it was nothing to her, we'd just come away from a hot, delicious meal, and it could have meant something to him.

my dad and i have a rule: when you're away for the day (eg up in london for meetings), at the end of the day when you're on your way home, give out whatever change you have to the poor souls on the street and do your part to brighten up their day. i advise other people to follow this little rule all year round, whether its christmas or not :)

and as for the people who say "they'll just buy drugs or booze with it"... think about how they feel, sitting there quite probably severely depressed, destitute and homeless, watching throngs of happy, (comparatively) wealthy people walk on by ignoring you completely like you don't exist. to just give anything you can helps imho.
and besides, i got talking to a homeless guy here in southampton one time in the middle of winter a few years back, and ended up happily giving him 5 quid out of my wallet. it wasn't much to me, but as i walked away i saw him heading straight for mcdonald's. when i happened to be walking back the other way a short while later, i saw him sitting in the window of that mcd's, warm, and happily still chowing down on a fat trayfull of hot food. :)

I don't see it as a "rant" at all, PM. I feel much the same way. As I indicated earlier, the most important part of any donation you make is your intent. If your intent is to help someone who apparently is in need of help, then it's all good. Yes, it matters what they spend the money on, for them. But for you, it's a matter of your humanity and compassion. It makes a better person of you, and that's definitely not a "bad thing." :)
