cool trick!

As for an explanation, not being a magician, I couldn't state exactly how it was done. But I noticed misdirection (takes off shoes, draws attention of audience/camera to self), concealment (paper), limitations (thebloke who touches the magician's hand through the paper is told not to press too hard/move his hand), an assistent (the shopguy), a backstage (the door's closed behind the shop owner and the magician), and so on - I'm sure there were techniques I missed! With latitude like that, I'm sure a good illusionist couple suggest a few ways it could be done.

(And that's all without suggesting it was a spectacular staged illusion using actors for the audience.)

Probably a fake panel- by my guess they removed a piece of glass and then popped it back in, otherwise there would be no need for the paper. Notice carefully how he covers up the tear in the paper when he steps out of it.

I agree with you on the shoe removal being a distraction technique. I know it's an illusion and I think the kid who worked at the shop was in on it, but I would have like to been there myself to take a closer look at that glass. I'm still trying to determine how only part of the glass could be removed without the spectators noticing something like that.
