Anyone else here participate in the grand game of airsoft?

More than worth the investment once you get in to it, at least if there's a community in the area to play with.

Thoughts or experiences of others?

I have a marui "ak47b spetznaz" with upgraded internals and wood funishinings, probably going to get a classic army hk33 (ca33e) with my x-mas money.

I have one next to my bed at school. You see, my roommate told me to wake him up for our classes tues/thurs by any means I choose. Therefore, I choose to shoot him every morning.

Nothing says "Good Morning" like a pellet to the knee cap.

I'm gonna get one of those new Classic Army SLR105's in a couple weeks.

I live in Australia, so Airsoft is illegal. But we can do outdoor laser skirmish, which is nearly as much fun :sniper:

I have a pump action SPAS-12, pump action UZI, pump action RoboCop pistol and a S&W Chief's special revolver. No electric ones yet. They are probably going to make airsoft illegal in the UK soon, due to the number of crimes being done with imitation weapons.

Thats a really gorgeous, awesome gun.

For me its a toss-up between the ca33 and the 105, but I already have an AK variant, so I think some variety will be nice, and I love the ca33 as it is.

Airsoft refers to replica guns that shoot 6mm plastic bbs, sometimes very hard.

The most common sort of airsoft gun is an "AEG" or "automatic electric gun," of which Tokyo Marui and Classic Army are the top makers. These guns look more or less identical to real ones (lots of metal, sometimes even wood) and fire semi- or full-automatic. They are powered by large rechargable batteries, often kept in the stock or front guard of the gun. BBs are loaded into a magazine which functions just like a real one.

There are also gas-powered guns, most of which are pistols, some of which use the gas power to "blow back" the slider and hammer, simulating the action of a real gun.

There are also sniper rifles which are usually compatible with real-world rifle accessories like scopes and bipods.

The most enjoyable games i've played have involved more than 20 people on each team. All that is really needed is a pair of shooting glasses or safety goggles, a balaclava to cover your mouth is nice if the weather permits.

Some people dump fortunes into airsoft, buying ghillie suits or full 'special forces' get-ups with radios and things to communicate. One fellow here has a night vision sight for his gun.

Hope that's a good overview!

I've only ever had two guns - one gat that fired metal bbs, slugs and darts and one airsoft, semi-auto electric baretta. That was the shit until I jammed it. :(
