I wonder if the guy who fell out got hit by the blades. Probably felt like getting winged by a DU sabot round.....

No blood or gore, I don't think so. IF there were bodies flying around, I'd say so.

But no.

So what the heck happened that made the helicopter lose directional control like that? Looked like the tail rotor was still working.

I think when it hit the ground the tail rotor shaft broke. The tail rotor would have kept spinning because of all that air flowing around but the pilot wouldn't have had any control over it.

I hate helicopters.

I hate poorly maintained, poorly flown, poorly made helicopters.

That and riding in them just makes me nervous. I had to helo out to the CV a couple times in an H-60 to join my squadron. There are just so many things that can go wrong, that I worried the whole way. At least in a jet, we had ejection seats and parachutes.

Although, if I were floating around in the water after having used my ejection seat, I wouldn't turn down a ride in a helicopter.

Actually, that looked like a fairly well built helicopter.

That dude who fell out definately died...and I think that some of the others did too.

This crash seemed to be user error more than anything. So "poorly flown," would be way more accurate.

Not saying it was all three, but at the least it was poorly flown. The helo's frame held together during the crash so most likely those inside survived. Nut sure about the guy who fell out.

The frame held up, but those blades literally go through everything when they break up like that.

Good chance they didn't make it either.
