Shaving...

Just wondering whether people have strong views either way - do women have an obligation to shave their legs/armpits/whatever? Are guys actually bothered about it? Does it have an effect on how attractive a woman is? I'll post my own opinions later on as I want to start the thread in an unbiased way. A debate might be fun but really I'm just interested to see what people's opinions are. So yeah, fire away people.

God no.

Amount-of-shaving is a cultural fashion; at the moment we're for it, in the past we were against it, and I've no doubt the cycle'll continue in the future!

Personally, I _like_ a bit of bodyhair on a woman - it's womanly, and sensual, drawing attention to the body.

Some places are obligatory to me, but other than that its all random.

I like to see some trimming on a woman, but than I do some trimming myself. Mainly because lots of hair tends to be itchy and can get caught and twisted causing much pain.

They're not obligated to.

I shave because I hate being hairy, especially armpits but legs too. I hate the feel of them and the look of them and feel almost unclean if I haven't shaved. That could be ingrained in me from society, I don't know.

An obligation? Not at all. My girlfriend shaves her armpits and her legs and her bikini line, but that's it, and only because she wants to--I've certainly never told her she needed to.

The thing I've never understood was the move toward women shaving their, ahem, nether regions. I don't want to feel like I'm looking at a ten-year-old when I'm about to have sex, thankyouverymuch.

Armpit and leg hair on a woman are unattractive to me and alot of other guys. Maybe it's a just a cultural thing, I don't know, but that's just how it is.

i don't know why (probably very prudish/sexist/whatver reasons if you were to analyse it) but i just find women with unshaven armpits and legs very unattractive. major turnoff.

It's sometimes percieved as an obligation, but it shouldn't be, really. It's an aesthetic thing. I don't really care all that much. Smooth skin does feel nice, though, I won't deny that. My ladyfriend shaves her armpits and legs, but does less often in the winter. She says that at a certain point, she starts feeling like a guy and that's when it's time to shave (in the winter).

Whatever a woman feels like, really. I don't think too much weight should be attached to a little body hair. Still, I'll admit that I somewhat prefer the shaven look, though a woman can still be very attractive even if she doesn't shave.

Oh, and I agree with Nazz... the shaving of the nether regions perplexes me, as it seems almost an effort to go for a pre-pubescent look, and that's just gross.

I despise body hair, male or female. :) If I could get away with completely shaving myself, I would.

That said, yeah, it's an aesthetic thing, but an important one. Hair just isn't attractive to me. Perhaps a nice little stripe 'down there' is fine on my lady, but I would much rather have her smooth. That's just how I like it. Nothing against ladies with a fuzzy forest, it's just not for me.

To say it's because someone gets off because it makes them look 'pre-pubescent' is nearly assinine, in my opinion. I dislike body hair. That's all.

A woman with hairy armpits and hairy legs is just plain disgusting.

I dunno. As I understand it, women don't like the stubble look.
But i seem to get hit on more when I skip a day or two. Go figure.(?)

Oh my god yes. I was in the gym yesterday, talkin with this girl, I was interested, she was fine. Anyway she got donw on the floor to do some situps or something and she had more armpit hair than I did. It was by far the worst thing that has ever been seen by anyone. Also, for oral sex, less hair is better

mmhmm, reminds me too much of awful 70s porno :headbang:
another turnoff.

again, not pre-pubescent, but just there's hair and then there's a bloody forest... one's fine and the other is just too much

i think the question (raised by you, hah, don't blame me) is whether or not guys should also shave thier body hair. personally, i'd be happy with whatever my ladyfriend says, but for myself i'd consider shaving 'down there' for exactly the same reason as i said above. call it weird but i just think massive bushes down there are kinda... nasty (on a woman or bloke/myself)

People have always have the ability and the right to do as they please.

Also, if the Internet has taught me one thing it is that somewhere out there, there are people out there who find ANYTHING sexually attractive. I'm certain that there are hairy-women lovers out there. Not a boubt in my mind.

As for me, I'm not going to stick my face in a brillo-pad. :p

I think similarly... and I'll be honest, I trim! I'm fairly dark, so pretty hirsuite. Again, it's nowt like an obligation, just what I find aestheticly pleasing :D

That's all.I didn't say that people who like the smoothness are getting off because the girl looks prepubescent--I said that's how it strikes me, and I don't get why it turns others on, that's all. I would certainly hope that the people who like shaved aren't getting off because they're thinking of children, especially considering how prevalent it is in porn these days.

As for me, I'm not going to stick my face in a brillo-pad.Neither am I--nothing wrong with a little trim. I just don't like it bare.:D

I'm a furry kinda guy, and I've had to shave various parts of my body for occasional medical reasons. We're talking one leg, torso, other oddments at different times. It feels ... weird. Clothes don't seem to fit right, temperature control goes all wacky - it feels too hot or too cold at odd times, as I no longer have that predictable layer of 'loft' between me and my clothes. Oh yeah - growing it back is itchy as hell.

No thanks. I'll stay furry.

I trim for intimacy, that's about it. In the Wintertime, regular shaving becomes irregular to keep the face warm.

Personally, I like people completely body hair free. I trim up various areas, though I often slack off on my facial hair. That tends to reflect my energy level/motivation..The more beard, the lazier and drained I've felt.

I hate women who have hairy armpits or leg hair. I prefer them to shave their crotches too, or at least trim it down some. Theres nothing sexy about hairyness; men are hairy, and men aren't sexy.

I shave what I shave because I want to, my husband really doesn't care either way, as long as I am comfortable. I don't feel as pretty if I am fuzzy though, so I still shave during the winter although not as often because I get dry skin in the wintertime.

My husband is super fuzzy, he has hair in places that I didn't know people grew hair (like on his back, toes, ect.) I like him fuzzy, I wouldn't want him waxed or shaved at all. It seems more manly for him to be fuzzy. The only thing I really insist on in his grooming is that he keep his eyebrows groomed (although I am the one who plucks them) and the only thing he insists is that I file my nails smooth so he doesn't get scratched so much.

I don't insist that a woman has to shave everything every day...hell, I shave my face maybe twice a week...but some upkeep is appreciated. For my fiancee, it's a case of how she feels about herself...she knows I like her shaved and gets excited about a good trimming. I frankly don't like downstairs hair...it gets in the way and I don't find it attractive. I think a woman can look mature without being hairy...

I like women with shaved legs/armpits, I think it's probabley because that's what I'm used to. Hairyness doesn't turn me off, but smooth skin without hair feels nicer. I prefer a neatly trimmed vag to a completely bald one. The totally hairless look doesn't really do it for me.

They're in no way obliged to.

Personally, I find excessive amounts of body hair can be a real turnoff, and I prefer shaven. Hairy legs are a turnoff, but armpit (as long as its not really bushy) and arm hair doesn't worry me so much.
