So many people tend to ignore the past ... I am sure about half the people they were fighting against were born there too

I mean it does not take long to get 2nd generation immagrents

Bah, since coming here, I've come to positively hate some aspects of the so-called Aussie way of life.
And the strange way some people understand "multiculturalism" is one of them.

You're exactly right :)

Several of the people bashed for looking "muslim" were in fact Italian...most people of Italian descent emigrated here in the 50's. How do you tell who looks middle eastern? I have a friend who is French/Mauritian, and he related a story of how he boarded a train and a few people went and moved away from him when he sat down. Our country has a large number of idiots....fortunately, i'm confident in saying that most people don't think like that. We are a very multicultural society, and most people like it that way. 'Course, there will always be rednecks or their equivalent on all sides.

I have to laugh though; proportionally, more "ethnics" get into further education than "true blue aussies". They work a lot harder than most of us do. (I don't have a figure on that, I can only relate from personal observations...)

Mr T? Please don't tell me you really think that's Mr T.

It's a pair of Australian Aboriginals (or Kooris, as the PC term is these days).

I really, really hope you're not serious about thinking it's Mr T... *goes away shaking head in wonder*

To be more exact, it's a pair of Aboriginals, and above them the caption "We grew here you lil Punk, your daddy came here on a ship."

Basically, this white kid is using the same slogan against "newcomers" that the indigenous population uses against their White oppressors.

Not quite...the Koori are a "tribe" (for lack of a better word). Only some Aboriginals use the word to refer to themselves - if they come from various tribes originally located in south-east Australia. Aboriginal is accepted in common discourse over here.

(unless you are speaking as an Aussie too...but i've never noticed any indication that "aboriginal" wasn't PC.)

I do find it a bit um, elitist to suggest that getting into higher education necessitates that "ethnics" work harder than "true blue aussies". The majority of my friends dropped out of school at year 10, and work a lot harder than most of the "ethnics" at my university. The reason why "ethnics" are overrepresented in higher education has more to do with the differing values placed on education by their cultures. While many "ethnic" students are at home on weekends studying, many "true blue aussie" students are on jobsites with their fathers.
