The liberal consensus in American media...
...where is it?
Ted Turner no longer runs CNN, Michael Moore hasn't made a film in the last year or two, and Clear Channel trying to destroy the Dixie Chick's career for dissing Bush hardly struck me as vastly left wing.
Of course, viewing this at one remove, maybe I'm missing something. Anyone have any instances they can cite of the television networks favouring liberal viewpoints over the reactionary?

Argh. How many times do I have to say this. The liberals don't control the media, the Free Masons do. God...
So why do the right leaning keep whining about the evil liberal media, then?

Because then it wouldn't be a secret, now would it?

YES! Someone else who sees! The Free Masons control the media, and are in turn controlled by the Illuminati, who are all Alien Jews from Alpha-Centauri! *dons tinfoil body-suit*

What?
No! That would imply that they are a part of the Conspiracy, and we all know that there is no conspiracy! None whatsoever. Ahahahahaha And the Illuminati doesn't exist!

BTW: You should read the study on the Effectiveness of Aluminium Foil Helmets (http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/)...
Surprisingly, these helmets can in fact help the government spy on citizens by amplifying certain key frequency ranges reserved for government use. The truth was out there, but it's now hidden in my closet!

Bah! Ynnead can bite my arse. Exodites all the way, baby!
Gravlen: Yes, tinfoil helmets are dangerous. They block the alien mind-rays, but it makes it easier for the aliens to use the government to spy on our thoughts! You have to keep up with the times, you know? A tinfoil suit is effective at stopping the alien probatic-alteration waves from making us into living incubators for their alien babies, but to keep the alien-Jew-controlled government out of our minds, we use multi-layered graphite and silicon headwear.

Media Bias Is Real, Finds UCLA Political Scientist
While the editorial page of The Wall Street Journal is conservative, the newspaper’s news pages are liberal, even more liberal than The New York Times. The Drudge Report may have a right-wing reputation, but it leans left. Coverage by public television and radio is conservative compared to the rest of the mainstream media. Meanwhile, almost all major media outlets tilt to the left.
These are just a few of the surprising findings from a UCLA-led study, which is believed to be the first successful attempt at objectively quantifying bias in a range of media outlets and ranking them accordingly.
“I suspected that many media outlets would tilt to the left because surveys have shown that reporters tend to vote more Democrat than Republican,” said Tim Groseclose, a UCLA political scientist and the study’s lead author. “But I was surprised at just how pronounced the distinctions are.”
“Overall, the major media outlets are quite moderate compared to members of Congress, but even so, there is a quantifiable and significant bias in that nearly all of them lean to the left,” said co?author Jeffrey Milyo, University of Missouri economist and public policy scholar.
The results appear in the latest issue of the Quarterly Journal of Economics, which will become available in mid-December.
Groseclose and Milyo based their research on a standard gauge of a lawmaker’s support for liberal causes. Americans for Democratic Action (ADA) tracks the percentage of times that each lawmaker votes on the liberal side of an issue. Based on these votes, the ADA assigns a numerical score to each lawmaker, where “100” is the most liberal and “0” is the most conservative. After adjustments to compensate for disproportionate representation that the Senate gives to low?population states and the lack of representation for the District of Columbia, the average ADA score in Congress (50.1) was assumed to represent the political position of the average U.S. voter.

It's only now beginning to turn.
Viacom was quite upset over the Dan Rather thing - and they are trying hard to turn the very liberal newsroom at CBS around - by cleaning house.
I'd say that this year, it's a lot more fair than it was a year ago. The housecleaning at CBS was long overdue and should have been done as soon as Walter Cronkite freely boasted of the liberal bias of that newsroom.
What I love is when Democrats like Harry Reid get up and say that the Democratic Party platform is the "mainstream" and that every Republican idea is "reactionary".
Hardly the case. While some Democrat ideas are mainstream in the US, so are many Republican ideas.

Because when you get caught doing something bad blaming the group who caught you for being prejudiced against you is a tried and true defense. Also if you perpetuate the myth of the liberal media you can demand more conservative spin in order to "level the playing field".

But of course, it seems so simple now. But then again, I'm old school. Cut my microchip out of my neck with my own knife, back in the day. None of that namby-pamby surgery or pocket-sized mini-scrambler for me, back when anal probing really ment something. Ah, those were the days... :D

Tinfoil helmets will actually enhance the mind-control abilities of the government.
http://people.csail.mit.edu/rahimi/helmet/
Among a fringe community of paranoids, aluminum helmets serve as the protective measure of choice against invasive radio signals. We investigate the efficacy of three aluminum helmet designs on a sample group of four individuals. Using a $250,000 network analyser, we find that although on average all helmets attenuate invasive radio frequencies in either directions (either emanating from an outside source, or emanating from the cranium of the subject), certain frequencies are in fact greatly amplified. These amplified frequencies coincide with radio bands reserved for government use according to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Statistical evidence suggests the use of helmets may in fact enhance the government's invasive abilities. We speculate that the government may in fact have started the helmet craze for this reason.

The study compared news outlets to politicians. Politicians in the US tend to be very conservative, even the democrats.
