Terrorist attacks on Croydon rumoured

Living in Croydon I have heard a very strange rumour going round and about regarding a possible terrorist attack on the Whitgift centre. It seems that there is a Indiean man walking around Croydon who drops something (a bag or other item, I'm not sure) on purpose and then when someone picks it up for him and gives it to him, he is very grateful and asks how he can repay them. They say its nothing to worry about and then the Indiean man tells the person not to come into Croydon on the 22 or the 23 or sometime around those dates. I cant find any internet reporting of this rumour so I just wondered if anyone here had heard a similar story and if its just some kind of revived and modified urban ledgend?

(For those Americans who may not know, Croydon is a bourgh of Greater London, posibly the furthest one south, just touching the M25)

Yeah. Croydon's done. I heard from this guy who knows this guy who's university roommate now works for MI5 that there's a plot by the Tamil Tigers to bypass the Sri Lankan security forces by attacking Croydon instead of Colombo. Sri Lanka won't expect a thing.

I've been to Croydon...a terrorist attack could be an improvement. :p Nah, just kidding, it's no worse than anywhere else in London, except Slough. And the East End. And the West End. And south of the river. And the City. So, erm...yeah.
