I wouldn't say so. His gig on Charmed was tacky yes, but he's not a bad actor.

Sniper, kicked ass. Demon Knight, kicked ass there too. Posse, ruthless fun bastard. The Phantom, pretty sweet there as well.

Don't forget Memphis Belle, another good movie! :)

Worst actor ever? Probably a toss up between Bill Paxton and Vin Diesel

I like Bill Paxton.

It would have to be Vin Diesel, the Uncle Tom Munckin of RPG. Translation: He's a powergaming munchkin who then denied he ever played RPGs when he got into acting.

three posts and no Keanu Reeves?

I'd suggest re-watching Dangerous Liaisons...

How 'bout I don't, and say I didn't...

...Reeves gets immunity for making the Bill and Ted movies. Although in those, he wasn't acting.

I'd have to say Jim Carrey. His horrendous over-acting & complete lack of subtlety just shit me to tears.

Vincent D'Onofrio by a country mile - no scenery escapes unchewed in anything he is in. Though Vin Diesel is pretty terrible in everything except the original Pitch Black.

Coincidentally, my friend and I were talking last night about what a talentless wanker he appears to us.

However, that tends to apply to pretty much everyone in Hollywood.

In a world where Mark Walberg exists, I don't know how this can be a discussion. You've clearly placed the bar too far up.

He's only good in movies where he's supposed to be over-acting... Like the Pet Detective ones.

In serious roles? Ehh.

I saw parts of Man on the Moon. It was pretty good.

He really needs to work on his subtelty and seriousness, though.

His broad comedies irratate me, but there was a great moment in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind that really impressed me in its subtly-something I look for and admire in screen actors. There is a scene on the beach in an abandoned house and the chick flips out and runs through all the rises and falls and traps and concerns that will likely be in thier lives and questions if that's what he really wants to have a relationship with her, and very quietly, he chokes out a very honest, "Sure."

Actors practice thier big scenes and memorize dozens of monologues and when they nail them it is impressive, but also expected. I think the true acting comes through in the small moments, and he did it there.

Heh, I'll have to see it, then.

Of course, he's a total riot on Late Night with Conan O'Brien. He's one of the best talk show guests ever. Seriously --- when you start singing a christmas carol, and you turn it into a Hardcore Punk christmas carol (complete with the super-jiggy spazdancing), you're tops.

I think he kind of got pidgeon holed into that over the top shlock after 'The Mask'.Somewhere behind the mainstream Hollywood facade is an actor who can really act but just keeps having shit scripts thrust upon him by the companys..Me, Myself and Irene ...Cant imagine any actor reading that piece of shit and deciding 'theres a film I just got to make'.

In all honesty, if any of us seriously think we or even a moderate portion of the population thinks we know the name of the worst actor ever we're kidding ourselves. Go to your local community college and watch a play, there will be some good acting in it-but wait for the guy playing 'Messenger' or "Party Guest," that one's far more likely to be closer to the mark.

Even local community theater, if you want to restrict yourselves to people getting paid to act. Or the straight to video consienment aisle at Hollywood video. Those movies made with $10,000 of Uncle Joe's money (yes, I'm jealous, but I'm still right) a DVX-100 and the filmmaker's unemployed friends-there's your shithouse actors.

Just checked out imdb.Zane actualy did an episode of murder she wrote.Death should follow for that alone. There is nothing short of a Palm D'or and an Oscar in the same year that can redeem someone for doing that.

Did you know that Stanley Kubrick was thinking about giving Steve Martin the lead role in Eyes Wide Shut before he gave it to Cruise? That would have been hilarious. I'm not trying to imply that Tom Cruise is a good actor by the way. Phew.

Zane is actually very good, depending on the role.
Many of you are mistaking personal preferences, for actual acting ability.

Watch Zane's small role in Tombstone.
Very well played, if not a fantastic part.

How many of you though he was a bastard, in Titanic?
Thats because he was trying to make you think he was.
Thats the sign of a good actor.

Hes not super-kickass, or anything, but hes in no way shape or form, the worst ever.

Even Tom Cruise doesnt deserve that title.
Cruise may be a looney scientologist, whos so far in the closet, hes finding christmas presents from 83', but he can act.
Theres a few movies hes been in where he does an excellent job.

The worst actor, deserves to be awarded to the person with nearly no talent to portray any emotion, on screen, and been in the most high-profile movies.

Ergo:

The award goes to:

Keanu Reeves.

Second place: Vin Diesel.

Honorable Mention: William Shatner.
(At least William Shatner can make fun of himself.)

I didn't mind him in Rain Man. But I guess Hoffman carried the whole thing.
