Words of wisdom from Harper or just plain dumb?

Harper: Grits want separatists in power in Quebec (http://sympaticomsn.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20051220/elxn_harper_unity_051220)

Stephen Harper attacked the Liberals on national unity Tuesday, saying Prime Minister Paul Martin wants the Parti Quebecois to gain power so Liberals can fight to save the country.

"I think they can't wait to see a PQ government so they can stand up for federalism and fight the separatists," Harper said while visiting a Toronto boxing club.

Your thoughts and your votes please. Poll coming.

Your thoughts and your votes please. Poll coming.I think Harper can't wait for a separatist Quebec government 'cause he probably thinks it'll make it easier for him to try currying favour with the Bloc.

*Edit: he's proven that his woeful ignorance of the realities of Canadian Politics do indeed threaten the unity of Confederation.

It would certainly give the Conservatives a better chance at forming a government if the Liberal vote collapses in PQ?

And yes, your thoughts are not to be taken lightly either.

Well, surely not gloomily. It's meant to empower, that last edit of mine. To encourage Canadians to do what they know to be correct, and vote how their heart moves them.

I just spent about 15 minutes being polled on the upcoming election and I am afraid to say......ummm no I am not, that I gave Harper very low marks on just about every aspect of Canadian politics, especially Canadian unity. :)

Forgive my ignorance but what would Canada loose if Quebec split off?

I'd say a few parts would follow suit- to join the US!

For starters? Probably the Maritimes. Also, a Hockey team, a football team, a major seaway, a lot of trees, a lot of hydro, and a lot of sleep.

Heavens, no.

Oh it's not that bad. Just pick your part up and move it to either the East or West Coast and you will be ok! :p

I don't imagine that the US would be thrilled about the idea.
