A minor one, I know. But it's not an area known for earthquakes. The fact that they got one would bother me if I lived there, especially in a place where there are so many levees.
Just one more thing for them to screw up taking care of - plans in the event of an earthquake ("you're on your own" says Nagin - easy plan).

Magnitude 3.0? That's hardly worth talking about.
According to the USGS, the largest earthquake in the recorded history of Louisiana (in 1939) had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale. It damaged chimneys and cracked plaster in a couple of towns. http://neic.usgs.gov/neis/eq_depot/usa/1930_10_19.html
In other words, earthquakes aren't something a citizen of Louisiana should spend a lot of time worrying about.

3.0? You can't even feel that! Besides, everybody knows that the New Madrid fault can make life miserable for everyone in that area and there's nothing anyone can do about it, so, meh!

Detectable Earthquakes can happen anywhere. Hell, one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded (felt from Montreal to Houston, and powerful enough to make the Mississippi run backwards) occured in the Midwest. Here in Massachusetts, we get tornadoes fairly often, and haven't had a real hurricane in years, even with the hyperactive tropics.

I feel that New Orleans is not a very friendly earthquake city just because of the soil it's built on. However, earthquakes in tha area are pretty rare, so there isn't any need for immediate worry.

I think we'll have a clearer idea of what the Powers That May OR May Not Be have planned for poor little Louisiana. Earthquake is a tough sign to read. A pillar of fire or plague of locusts would be more certain.
Little earthquakes happen all the time everywhere. Not that big a deal.

and the next day, thousands of Lousiana resident are demanding that the US government do something about it, and give them $200,000 in debit cards. Hey they have to un-ruffled those sheet and towels somehow!

The heathens of Louisiana shall PAY for their transgressions! The LORD shall make it known that none among us can flaunt our sinful ways without admonishment!

It's parody, but with a point. Fundies cherry-pick their favorite passages from the OT and conveniently forget the rest -- what gives them the right?

Actually if these fundies are susposidely Christian, they shouldn't be looking to the OT for guidance in the first place. Jesus Christ said, in the New Testament, that his words, and himself are the new laws. Which pretty much means, screw the old laws in the OT, and just do what I tell you to do. The fundies seem to have forgotten that.
